Team Canada Scored 14 Goals In Their First Game At The World Juniors Last Night

Yep, that’s right. Canada won their opening game in the World Juniors 14-0 against Denmark. Granted, Denmark isn’t the most talented team in the world and only has two NHL draft picks on the roster. For reference, every single player on Team Canada has been drafted with the exception of two players, who aren’t old enough yet. Regardless, an absolute spanking by Team Canada.

Team Canada got four goals from Captain Maxime Comtois and 3 goals from Morgan Frost, who was named the played of the game. 7 goals from two players? Sheeeeesh. The Flyers may have something here in this Frost kid. They took the Sault Ste. Marie forward in the 1st round of the 2017 draft and it looks like they may have hit the jackpot. Comtois on the other hand is a 2017 2nd round draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks and currently plays in Drummondville in the QMJHL.

Comtois joined some pretty legendary company, becoming the 45h player in Canadian World Juniors history to score 4 goals in a game.

Team Canada also saw a good performance on the backend from Mikey DiPietro, a 2017 3rd round pick by the Canucks, who saw a whopping 12 shots in the 14-0 win. DiPetro is not expected to start tonight against the Swiss, as Ian Scott is slated to get the start. Scott currently plays for the Prince Albert Raiders of the WH and was a 2017 4th round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

How about this move from Owen Tippett too?

This Canadian world juniors team is good, real good and there is a reason they came into the tournament as the favorites at +105. But let’s not forget, Denmark stinks.
