The First Philadelphia Wings Game In 4 Years Had (Almost) Everything You Could Ask For
The city of Philadelphia has waited 4.5 long ass years to finally have the Wings back in our lives. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait just a little longer until we get to see the Wings win a game again after they dropped today’s season opener to the Buffalo Bandits 17-15. But here’s the thing–the Bandits are an absolute wagon this year. They have some absolute studs out of the front door in Corey Small, Dhane Smith, Josh Byrne and Shawn Evans. And then oh yeah, they just so happened to acquire the best goalie in the league this offseason in Matt Vinc. There’s a good chance you see Buffalo playing in the final game of the season. And the Wings were tied 15-15 with just 65 seconds left in the game with them. So there is a fuck ton to look forward to with this team moving forward. And the biggest thing for fans to look forward to is how much this team grinds. It took them a few minutes to get themselves going today and they never played with the lead at all. But even though they were either down or tied all game, they were grinding their dicks off for 60 full minutes. If you’re a Flyers fan who is sick and tired of watching pathetic efforts from that team, I highly suggest jumping over to the Wings bandwagon because they play a style of lacrosse that fits right in with Philly. Greasy, blue collar, fuck you lacrosse.
So even though they ended up in the L column to open up the season, this game had everything you were looking for. You had the 2nd overall pick Chris Cloutier putting on a shooting clinic against a Hall of Fame goalie.
You had the hometown kid Matt Rambo finding the back of the net in his first career NLL game.
You had the boys absolutely buzzin in transition.
And the most important part of all, we got to see a nice little tilt there at the end.
32 total goals on the day so I highly recommend getting rich off of some Philadelphia Wings OVERS this season if you can find yourself a book to take bets on the NLL. Goals on top of goals on top of goals. Not really much to hate about that from an entertainment perspective. So obviously the loss sucks but one thing that’s for sure?
