The Dallas Mavericks are 14-11 right now. They look like a playoff team. They are winning games against the likes of the Rockets, Blazers and Clippers in the last five games. They’ve won 11 of the last 14 games and it’s all because of one rookie.

Nay, it’s all because of the smartest pick in the entire 2018 NBA Draft. It’s a rookie who is averaging 14 points and 4.6 assists in the last three games. It’s one who is finally getting the time to shine.

It’s more than that even. His game was questioned coming into the Draft despite all the success he had. Was he going to be able to use his size in the NBA world? Would he be able to create his own shot? Is he athletic enough to defend in the NBA? Just nothing but questions and doubts.

The moment the Mavs drafted him they were guaranteed success. You think a guy who won 2 NCAA Tournaments and a NPOY was going to come in and not translate to the NBA? It’s not like he was playing against some subpar competition. He was doing all of this as a teenager!
