The Redskins Have Signed Reuben Foster Off Waivers

Well…this is a thing. Reuben Foster is a very good linebacker. No denying that. On the other hand, let’s read his Wikipedia:

On February 11, 2018, Foster was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, threats, and assault weapon possession charges.[58] On April 12, he was charged with felony counts of multiple domestic violence, possession of a weapon, and infliction of bodily harm. [59] On April 25, Foster’s girlfriend through her lawyer made a statement saying “(Foster) did not strike her, injure her or threaten her,” and that the domestic violence claims were made after Foster attempted to end the relationship after she told him her injuries resulted from a fight with another woman. [60] On May 17, Elissa Ennis testified under oath that she had fabricated the story “as a money scheme”.[61]

On November 24, 2018, Foster was arrested on probable cause misdemeanor domestic violence charges.[62] The next day, he was released by the 49ers.[63]

Yikes! So now he’s been arrested twice this year for domestic violence. He very well could still be in jail right now, I’m note even sure. I don’t  know Reuben Foster, but I know good people generally as a rule aren’t arrested twice in a year for domestic violence. Just as a rule, it doesn’t happen.

So now the Redskins signed him, and why? Because it’s the NFL and that’s what the NFL does. It’s the league of second and third and fourth chances, as long as you are good. Teams will take a flier on a good player and put them on a short leash, no matter what.

I mean at the end of the day, it’s a business and blah blah blah, if a player can help a team win football games, they are going to sign him. The Skins clearly don’t give a fuck about backlash, because woooo boy, there is a ton right now

It’s just the way it is. You shouldn’t look at most of the players in the NFL as heroes anyway because at the end of the day they are just millionaires playing a game (though obviously there are plenty of good eggs in the NFL as well, no doubt about it).

Reuben Foster very well could be a shitty human being, as most signs seem to point that way. But the Redskins are more interested in what he can do on the field, helping them win the division, and not what he does off the field. It’s just the way it is in the NFL. Dumb, dumb, dumb signing though optically. Just really dumb.
