J.D. Martinez Winning the Silver Slugger Award For 57 Games Played In The Outfield Is A Giant Slap In The Face To Khris Davis And Everyone Else

Listen, the MLB Silver Slugger award is not the biggest accomplishment you could get, I understand that. It’s a nice end of the year acknowledgement that you were the best hitter at that position for the entire year and I do think it deserves a little more recognition than it gets, especially if we make a big deal about gold gloves. Yesterday when they announced the winners at each position, J.D. Martinez’s name came up obviously. He deserves to, there is no question about that, and I would even argue he should be an MVP finalist. But for J.D. Martinez to win a Silver Slugger at BOTH DH and the OF is a slap in the face to the American League.

This asshole played 57 games in the OF and in those 57 games he totaled 51 RBIs and 16 home runs. That wins him the best hitter at that position? I’m not saying those aren’t good numbers because they’re very good, but are we just going to ignore what Khris Davis did in Oakland this year? I hate taking that caveman loser Dallas Braden’s side here, but I mean Khrush hit 48 bombs and knocked in 123 men this year. We’re really going to say JD was the better hitting outfielder? Now I realize Davis did a lot of DHing himself, fine. Even Texas’ Nelson Cruz hit 37 homers and had 97 RBIs with a .256 average. Seattle’s Mitch Haniger? Just a quiet .285 batting average with 26 homers and 93 RBIs. How does he not win this? I’m not even going to mention Stanton who also was deserving of the award, not more than Davis in my opinion though.

I’m not trying to come off as a whining bitch, but what are we doing here? Have some respect Major League Baseball. Suck the Red Sox dick a little more why don’t ya?
