Another Week With A Boatload Of Redskins Injuries
This is a Friday tradition that I’m not liking at all- the Redskins injury report. Despite being 5-2 and in 1st place in the NFC East (typing that never gets old) Skins have been very beat up all year, and this week is no different. Jamison Crowder is still hurt. I was really banking on Jamo to take the next step this year and connect with Alex Smith in a big way. Instead he had 13 catches in 4 games and hasn’t seen the field since. His injury is definitely a big reason the offense hasn’t been able to find it’s footing.
Chris Thompson has never had a healthy season in his life and it sucks. So much talent, but can never stay on the field. Last year we saw how brilliant he can be when at 100%…and then he broke his leg. From sports injury predictor:
Thompson’s injury history almost makes you wonder why he’s still playing football. A fractured right fibula cost him the final 6 games of 2017. Two years prior, a torn shoulder labrum and back bruise combined to claim 3 games. He finished his rookie season on IR with the same injury, and has also dealt with ankle, back and toe issues in the pros. Thompson’s college career featured a 2011 vertebral fracture and then a left ACL tear the following season. Before his 2017 injury, however, the 27-year-old looked as explosive as he ever has in the pros.
Just want this dude to stay healthy one time. Would obviously rather him miss games now than the playoffs (knock on wood) but not having Crowder nor Thompson hurts a lot.
And finally, Trent Williams. Trent has played at a Pro Bowl level while hurt the last handful of seasons. He’s the best LT in the league and has been a huge reason ADAP has been able to have such a great year so far. But he banged up his thumb and had thumb surgery and is now week-to-week. I’m confident Trent Williams would be able to play without a leg, so I’m not worried about the thumb injury, but he’s a big loss for sure in the running game.
There is some good news though! Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will be suiting up to try and shut down the Falcons air attack.
So it looks like it will be another week with the Skins defense doing the heavy lifting, and us hoping the offense can do anything, anything at all. Maybe this is the week Josh Doctson goes off? We can only hope. Because man, Josh Docston needs to show us something at some point if we want any sort of downfield passing attack.
