We're Seeing The Next Step Following The FBI Trial Into College Basketball Take Place At Arizona With Board Of Regents Meeting

USC v Arizona

[AZ Central] – The Arizona Board of Regents has called an executive-session meeting for Thursday to discuss the University of Arizona’s men’s basketball program after allegations surfaced in federal court about money being offered to recruits.

The regents, who oversee the state universities and approve head coaching contracts, have scheduled for 11 a.m. at Arizona State University’s downtown Phoenix campus a meeting to receive “legal advice and discussion.”

“We always knew we would need to monitor things closely as the judicial proceedings elsewhere proceeded. We are now convening for another update in the wake of the trials that were carried out within the past several weeks,” Regent Jay Heiler said in an interview with The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com.

Well, this is something. Or it may be nothing. I know, I know. Real strong take there. But, we simply don’t know what’s going to be said at this meeting. They are clearly trying to receive legal advice. But, why? That’s my question when it comes to this. They aren’t going to move on from Sean Miller. It’s worth noting that he hasn’t been accused of any wrongdoing. Perhaps they are just trying to plan for the future? There’s a lot that doesn’t make sense as of this moment. There’s just a lot of questions that we won’t know until we find out what was said during this meeting. They did say that no action will take place during this meeting.

We’re still waiting for Book Richardson, the former assistant coach, to have his trial, which will happen in a few months. So far we know that Christian Dawkins wrote a plan to to pay Rawle Alkins and his family $50,000. It’s also alleged that former Arizona assistant Joe Pasternack offered Brian Bowen $50,000.

This is just the first of steps we’ve seen since the first trial finished up. We’ll see what happens. Quite frankly, I’d love for this dumb investigation to be over with so we can just talk about the game.
