Apu Isn't Being Written Out Of The Simpsons And Might Come Back With An Irish Accent
One of the original writers of The Simpsons has responded to claims that Apu will be written out of the show.
Last week, producer and Youtuber Adi Shankar claimed that The Simpsons plans to “drop the Apu character altogether”.
But Al Jean, who is an executive producer, has responded on Twitter saying that Adi Shankar “does not speak for our show”.
Apu has become controversial recently, with some people arguing that he is an Indian stereotype.
Man, getting told that you don’t speak for something that you have spoken for is embarrassing as fuck. That’s one of the reason I never answer larger questions about Barstool. If one of the hit pieces reached out to me for comment, I’m not saying shit because that’s above my pay grade. I just write poop blogs, man. I’m not trying into get into those weeds.
I saw that kinda shit in the military though. It’s interesting as a junior troop because you think you made it when you reach a certain rank. You can be in a meeting and someone drops the “this is above your pay grade” or “it doesn’t concern you at your level, Sergeant” and you just wanna crawl in a hole and die.
The article doesn’t say for sure that Apu will be back but if the Simpsons’ original writers hate one thing, I’m sure it’s being told what they can and cannot write. I’d bet Apu is back with a Scottish accent or something. That’s just my guess. It’s what I’d do. Just stir the pot a little bit and have Apu do all the same shit just with Groundkeeper Willie’s voice.
