Bill Belichick Bluntly Saying That Khalil Mack Isn't In Lawrence Taylor's Class May Be The Highlight Of The 2018 Giants Season

Lets go live to the Casa de Clem!

We all know it’s been a rough few days/week/months/years for Giants fans, but damn if seeing old man Belichick crack as close to a grin as you will get during a Pats Wednesday press conference didn’t make me feel something inside. I can watch videos of Bill Belichick talking about how great LT and fucking crazy LT was forever. I still have the Lawrence Taylor Football Life unwatched on my DVR because I need to savor that as I watch it since Belichick is one of the people that waxes poetic about LT. When your team stinks like my team does, any type of positive statement about the franchise, no matter how dated the reference is from, is a win. So seeing BB gently dismissing the most dominant edge rusher in the game the week before playing him because he respects Lawrence Taylor that fucking much was better than anything the Giants will do on the field this year. Even when things were going well for the Giants over the last few years, we were defending our eccentric receiver or quarterback that may or may not be a mouth breather. But watching Belichick turn into Old Man Myrtle reminiscing about his days playing baseball games with George Ruth every time LT is brought up is better than anything I will see on the field, and that includes whatever freak factory shit Saquon does over the next 10 games.

Let me make this clear that this has nothing to do with Khalil Mack either. Watching him absolutely destroy quarterbacks, offensive gameplans, and any argument Jon Gruden had for why he traded him is one of my favorite things to do on Sunday. Seeing Big Cat and the Red Line Radio guys line lose their shit on Twitter brings joy to my broken football heart, even if it means Eddie occasionally comes crashing down to Earth in spectacular fashion. The Mack Man shirt is maybe my favorite shirt currently in the Barstool store and I’m not even a Bears fan.

But watching the greatest coach in NFL history pump up the greatest defensive player in NFL history who literally changed the game and made a shit ton of money for left tackles, Michael Lewis, Sandra Bullock, and whoever else associated with The Blind Side (book, movie, or football term) at the expense of everyone pretty much every other defensive player is chicken soup for the Giants fan’s poisoned soul. I just hope some poor Chargers scribe one day refers to LaDanian Tomlinson as LT and Belichick knocks his block clean off. Something about one of the best running backs ever taking the name of the greatest defensive player of all-time always triggered me.
