I Need To Know What Danny Ainge Asked Pat Riley For

Look I know it’s late on a Friday, but what am I going to do, not blog this? Couldn’t be me. With news breaking that Riley called Thibs a motherfucker when he asked for more pieces in a Jimmy Butler trade, you knew a public statement was coming. It was pretty par for the course and naturally Riley denied it. Obviously that’s complete bullshit and he definitely said it, but that’s not the point of this blog. The point of this blog was the second little nugget he gave us about telling Danny Ainge to shut the fuck up during the LeBron Big 3 era. That just makes me laugh. I need to know what Ainge was asking for to garner that type of response from Riley. Remember back then these two teams were “rivals” so I’m not sure what Ainge was thinking. Maybe he tried to pry away Chris Bosh or something?

This just confirmed my theory that every GM out there is sick of dealing with Trader Danny. They know that even if they can’t see his angle at first, that crafty fucker is up to something. This was probably right after the Nets trade too when Ainge was still riding that high. Wouldn’t shock me if he proposed a LeBron for Jeff Green/Jordan Crawford swap or something along those lines. Maybe he even was willing to throw in Darko, I’m not sure.

So while his PR statement on Thibs was bullshit, it’s always awesome to hear the inner workings of these GM phone calls. No doubt in my mind he really said that about Thibs, and now I’ll wonder for the rest of my life what Danny Ainge said. What a league.
