Charles Barkley Thought He Was Going To Get Hired In 2017 To Be The President Of The Orlando Magic
Uhh, this is absolutely hilarious. Imagine Charles Barkley as President of a team? More importantly imagine him as President of a team that’s been subpar like the Magic. I can just picture him running around, getting pissed off at people and trading them all willy nilly.
Instead the Magic went with Jeff Weltman – who worked in the Raptors front office before going to Orlando. He took the job knowing that it was rebuild mode and spent time in Milwaukee before Toronto. He’s been a part of a rebuild and turning the Raptors into a good team.
But, now, more than ever I realized how much I need Charles Barkley to be President of a team. I need him making decisions for an NBA team as much as it would hurt one of the best shows in sports in Inside the NBA. This is the second time this week he’s made the claim of thinking he had the job, telling 98.7 in Arizona the following:
“Number one, I thought I was going to be one last year, and I was really pissed I didn’t get the job,” Barkley said Tuesday on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. “I would listen to certain people but I’m not sure at this stage in my life — but I did, I thought I had the job last year and it pissed me off. They hired another one of those analytical idiots instead of just getting the best players. That’s OK.”
Oh, here’s Weltman:
I need him to confront Barkley more than ever now.
