The Wizards Really Are The Gift That Keeps On Giving

New York Knicks v Washington Wizards

I can’t help it, I love these Wizards. Allergic to self awareness, I simply cannot get enough. The other day we had Austin Rivers talk about how they are as good as any of the elite teams in the East because they added himself and Dwight Howard, and now we have Bradley Beal talking about how Jeff Green is basically LeBron James. I mean you can’t make this stuff up and the funny thing is Beal 100% believes this. They can’t help themselves it’s awesome.

In fact, I like the name Jeff “Almost” Green. That basically sums up his career perfectly. And look I’m not going to rag on Beal that much because all he is doing is saying what almost every fan has said when Jeff Green joined their team. I speak from experience. You damn right I convinced myself that Jeff Green’s versatility was going to be a huge weapon for the Celts way back when. I’m almost positive I said that exact same thing about him playing the 3-5. It’s what you have to do to talk yourself into committing to Jeff Green the basketball player. In theory, he is a matchup nightmare. In reality, not so much. And sure, even if they entire basketball world knows this, there’s some weird rule that when you bring Jeff Green in, you are convinced THIS is the year he will put it all together. Was it aggressive to compare him to LeBron James? Sure. Ignore the fact that the only similarities between the two are that they both play basketball for a living (if you could call what Jeff Green does playing basketball) and just enjoy this for the ridiculousness that it is. I had no idea the Wizards brought in LeBron James, but what do I know?

So please, try not to make fun of Bradley Beal and the Wizards. They can’t help it. This is what happens when you find yourself under the Jeff Green spell. It’s taken down the the best of the best from Danny Ainge to LeBron. You almost have to respect the finesse by Green that so many people still say these about him even after the rather large sample size of actual basketball evidence.

Sadly, nobody has the heart to tell Beal he couldn’t be more wrong, and part of me feels bad for how disappointed he’s going to be by like….November. I’m just happy that no matter what their coach pleads them to do, the Wizards will never, ever, ever change.

P.S.

Yes, I am still bitter about Jeff Green’s performances in  Games 6 & 7 from last season’s ECF (14 and 19 points), after averaging 8 points throughout the whole series. So what? Sue me.
