Wake Up With Randall Simon Assaulting A Sausage During The Sausage Race During A Milwaukee Brewers Game

What a time this was. Imagine if social media was around for this, the tweets and jokes would have been fantastic. This happened back in 2003 when the Pirates were in Milwaukee for a series. The Brewers did their traditional sausage race in-between innings, nothing out of the ordinary here. The Pirates were leaning over the railing to watch the race.
As the sausages and other meat products came down to the finish line, Randall Simon, the Pirates first baseman took out a bat and proceeded to whack the Italian Sausage costume. Inside that costume was a female who was in college. The bat didn't hit any part of her body, just the costume. She tumbled and scraped her knee, nothing too bad, but it did look like it would hurt.
MLB didn't think it was too funny as they fined him $432.10, and suspended him for three games, Fining him $430 bucks? Really? Kinda a strange move. He ended up giving the girl a signed bat and issued an apology, the Curaçao Tourism Board also gave her and a friend a vacation to Curaçao where Simon in from, thats a pretty neat move by them. Simon came back later in the season with the Cubs and during the sausage race they pretended to hold him back, while Dusty Baker stood in front of the bat rack. He also bought Italian Sausages for an entire section.
Again, it was a really weird move by Simon to swing at the sausage in the first place, and good thing the lady wasn't hurt. Still think the tweets and memes would have been hilarious if it happened today.
