Phoenix Suns Owner Robert Sarver Sure Has A Unique Way Of Dealing With Negotations

[ESPN] – ‘Suns coaches became accustomed to regular beratings and demands of strategy and lineup changes, league sources said. Rival executives could sometimes hear Sarver yelling in the background on negotiation calls with the Suns’ front office. Agents tell stories of private conversations involving Sarver without the front office’s knowledge’

I don’t know why but this image is just so hilarious to me. I just imagine Sarver like a little kid who is trying to get attention from his dad while he’s on a business call. I mean that’s the only reason to be on the phone these days anyways. I’m a bit surprised that deals aren’t even done via text with the younger group coming into front office roles. No one wants to call someone.

Okay, that tangent took us there. But, back to Sarver. Needless to say this isn’t an effective way to hold negotiations. If you really want to be a part of this, why hire a GM? Just make yourself the GM and handle everything yourself. It’s not ideal but it’s better than screaming in the background of a call.

The Suns actually have a young core with Ayton, Booker, Okobo, Jackson and Bridges. Not saying that’s an eventual championship team or anything, but you have a young core to start building. That’s where the Suns are right now. Ryan McDonough made the moves to get this group, whether you liked what they gave up to get someone like Bridges is a different discussion. But, you have to let whatever GM you hire (James Jones) to operate without your interruption like this.

Just a wild move. I actually want to try it some time and see if it works for me to get what I want as well. I wish there was a video of this somewhere.
