Dave Gettleman you beautiful son of a bitch! I’ll admit that the last 24 hours have not been fun because I haven’t been able to go near anything sports related on TV or podcasts ever since Graham Gano shoved his size 3 foot way up the Giants ass. Even the Panthers Spanish announcers lose their marbles and break out in song as Gano’s field goal went through the uprights couldn’t bring a smile to my face and I’m pretty sure if Spanish announcers going crazy during a call doesn’t make you happy, you get diagnosed with depression on the spot.
However all is good in Giantsland now that we know that Big Dumb Ereck Flowers will be out of our lives by this time tomorrow. I figured that Gettleman would save this move for the darkest point of the season and losing by a 63-yard field goal to go 1-4 before facing the Super Bowl champs on Thursday is about as bad as it gets. Yeah it’s probably not healthy to think that cutting a shitty offensive lineman will turn your season around. But I was ready to consider the season saved after the go-ahead drive yesterday and simply benching Flowers inspired the Giants to win their only game this season. Add in that the Eagles and Cowboys lost yesterday while the Redskins have a Monday Night Football buzzsaw game against the Saints in New Orleans that could result in the Giants only being one win away from first place, and well folks I think I am ready to at least believe that the season isn’t definitely already dead yet. Because I truly believe cutting this morose motherfucker could actually bring enough good juju to the franchise to turn things around.
And for those wondering, no this 2015 NFL Draft Board doesn’t trigger me.
Don’t get me wrong, it does make me extremely sad, just like this picture does.
But nobody saw Todd Gurley going that early coming off his torn ACL and I figured Jerry Reese didn’t know how to react to the Skins sniping Brandon Scherff, so he went with the next highest guy at a similar position on his board, which is the same line of thinking I have done in fantasy drafts countless time, usually with the same results. Now whether Flowers should have even been that high on his board is another conversation altogether. But we no longer have to worry about Jerry Reese and as of 4 PM tomorrow, we will no longer have to worry about Ereck Flowers. Read that last sentence again and try not to dream of a better future, starting on Thursday night. I’m all the way back in baby! 12-4, here we come! I can’t wait to complete the Giants-Patriots Super Bowl trilogy especially since Flowers becoming an All-Pro left tackle guarding Tom Brady’s blindside by February seems inevitable.
