#ComebackSZN: The Mets Officially Activate David Wright From The 60-Day DL

MOOD:

HE DID IT! HE DID IT! DAVID DID IT!

I’ll be honest, I thought the chances of ever seeing the Mets tweet that David Wright had been activated off the DL were about as good as seeing Nate and Smitty spend Thanksgiving dinner together. From David’s constant setbacks to the Wilpons using Wright’s insurance policy as an ATM to the permanent black cloud hanging above Citi Field, it seemed like there were always impossible obstacles that the Mets captain would have to overcome in order to make it back to The Show.

But the Mets made it official today after Wright proved that not only is he actually still alive but he is well enough to play in a Major League Baseball game again. Sure his spot on the DL has a nice indentation on it like an old couch during NFL Sunday and this is all kind of bittersweet because it will almost definitely be the last time we see Wright on a baseball field. But if anyone in the world deserved one last game on the diamond in front of his daughters before getting a hero’s goodbye from the tortured fanbase that loves him, it’s David Allen Wright. If Trevor Richards or whoever is pitching for the Marlins wants to groove a pitch to Wright on Saturday and see if he can give us one picturesque opposite field hit, I wouldn’t hate it. To be honest, I just want David to make it through the game without getting hurt or something Metsy to happen to him because this franchise has done to my psyche what spinal stenosis has done to David Wright’s career. But the fact the Mets were able to actually do a simple roster move that places Wright on the active roster is a nice win in a season full of shitty losses for a franchise famous for them.
