Bucci Tweets Out A Photo Of Erik Karlsson With The Caption "Soon". What Does It Mean?
Soon? What does it mean? What is soon? Is Erik Karlsson getting traded soon like I said would happen after that bizarro video with Eugene Melnyk this morning? Is it just hockey in general coming back soon? Is he pulling a page out of the ol’ Spider Monkey book and hinting that Craig Anderson is on his way out of Ottawa?
Nobody knows what it means, but it’s provocative. It gets the people going.
I do, however, think the most important thing to recognize in this tweet is that Bucci chose a photo of Erik Karlsson playing in Philadelphia. There are hundreds and hundreds of photos of Erik Karlsson on the internet. Countless ones to choose from. And if you’re sending out some ominous tweet about one of the biggest stars in the league whose future is very uncertain at the moment, I don’t think you end up just grabbing any ol’ picture of EK65 all willy nilly. If Bucci knows something that the rest of us don’t, I feel like he’d probably put in a pretty specific Google image search for the perfect one to use. Which is a photo of him playing in Philly.
The Flyers have a ton of young, talented defensemen in the system right now. They are expecting to be in the playoffs and hopefully get a little further than the 1st round this year so giving Ottawa that 2019 1st round pick wouldn’t be too much damage. They have the cap space with a ton more coming off the books after this season (Lehtera’s $4.7, Simmonds if it meant signing Karlsson, Raffl if it meant signing Karlsson, etc etc). And if Ottawa really wants veteran leadership in the locker room like Eugene Melnyk was discussing, well then I guess the Flyers could also throw Andrew MacDonald into the package as well. I know most of the talk has been about the Senators sending Erik Karlsson out of the conference and into the West, but the Flyers actually make a ton of sense as a trade partner. Now pull the trigger, Ron. DO IT.
