Wake Up With An NBA Countdown: Best Eurosteps Of 2018

San Antonio Spurs v Portland Trail Blazers

Good morning everybody, happy Tuesday! With the news that came out that Manu was calling it quits after an awesome 16 year run, I thought we would spend this morning celebrating his impact on the game the best way I know how. There are a lot of things people think about when it comes to Manu, his titles, him killing that bat, his ability to play at another level when the stakes got high, but I know I’ll personally always think of what was perhaps his best contribution to the NBA.

The Eurostep.

You watch any NBA game nowadays, you’re going to see someone attempt this move. Whether it’s on the break, or a guy uses it to slash through a defense and finish on the rim, Manu was really the first player I remember who was so goddamn deadly with this move that people didn’t know what to do. In today’s NBA we are getting it from guards, from wings, and even some extremely talented big men. It’s such a simple move yet when done right is so goddamn nasty. You can think you have positioned perfectly and the next thing you know the opposing player is finishing at the rim uncontested. Manu may have been the one to really start the trend, but guys today take it to another level it seems. Whether it’s Harden, who is probably the best at it in the league, or Westbrook who brings another flavor to it by dunking like a goddamn maniac out of the euro, there is really something for everyone. So when we look back at the best euro steps from this past season, you expect to see certain names like Harden, Westbrook, and Giannis. Hell Giannis takes like one step and is already at the rim it’s crazy given how long he is. But we also see some young dudes who are making this a lethal weapon in their arsenal like Tatum and Mitchell. Donovan Mitchell may have the best one of all young players if we’re being honest.

So thank you Manu for introducing this lethal move to the NBA, players will be using it for the rest of time. Now I hope you enjoy today’s video and as always if there is a player or team or whatever type of countdown you’d like to see in the morning just list it in the comments below. Otherwise have yourself a great Tuesday!

P.S.

Had to also have one of just the GOAT, come on now are you new around here?
