If You Could Be The GM Of Any Non-Playoff Team, Who Would You Pick?
This was floating around the other night on Twitter and I started thinking about it. I love the question, mostly because I imagine being in the front office or commissioner of hoops pretty much all the time. So with that in mind and a short flight yesterday, I started going through the options here. First off, I love that you can’t choose the Lakers, that’s the obvious answer. That’s just smart.
So here are your options: Pistons, Hornets, Knicks, Nets, Bulls, Magic, Hawks, Nuggets, Clippers, Kings, Mavericks, Grizzlies and Suns.
There’s an obvious answer here and I say this as a Knicks fan. You have to take the Nuggets. They are set up the best for the long run with the trio of Gary Harris, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. You have Michael Porter Jr., who could be a star. You have a team set up for success this season as a possible top-6 team in the West. There’s enough there to make this a no-brainer for me.
That’s the key to this game is who is set up for success the longest and the quickest. That has to be the Nuggets. If you’re looking at this in order of teams I’d want to take over, all things like youth, current talent, fan base, how I like the teams, money, etc, considered:
1. Nuggets
2. Suns
3. Knicks
4. Hornets
5. Mavericks
6. Clippers
7. Bulls
8. Kings
9. Nets
10. Pistons
11. Grizzlies
12. Hawks
13. Magic
