The Browns Actually Care About Josh Gordon The Person And It's Refreshing
So it’s been talked about recently how Josh Gordon will not be attending the beginning of Cleveland Browns training camp and the reasons behind the decision were in question. We’ve learned this is basically to avoid the Hard Knocks cameras as much as he can, as he works to get his mental health in check and good to go for the season. Some were scared it was just to cover up a possible failed drug test or something along those lines, but that was just a bad rumor. Flash is in a good spot in his life for a change, but there’s an NFL rule that was set up to fuck him for the wrong reasons.
With Gordon placed on the ‘Did Not Report’ list, he had to be taken off the list and report to camp by Tuesday, otherwise he would lose an accrued season towards free agency. Basically it would extend the time from now where he would become a restricted and unrestricted free agent and start to make real money. What did the Browns announce they’re doing? They will be moving him from the ‘Did Not Report’ list to the roster and placing him on the ‘Non Football Injury’ list. The Browns didn’t need to do this at all. Most teams would be more concerned about the money and getting as many cheap years as possible from their all-world wide receiver. It’s nice for a change for an organization to look out for their guy and understand the gravity of a situation. Josh has evidently changed as a person and has ridded himself from the demons that almost killed him earlier in his career. The fact that he’s removed himself from the spotlight to go workout in Florida like a maniac is awesome news for everyone involved. Good for Cleveland. Good for Flash. Maybe this will give both of them some good karma moving forward.
Baker throwing to Gordon and Landry in the future is going to be fucking electric.
