You're An Absolute Asshole If You Raffle Off A Chance To Attend Your Wedding

This came across my timeline the other day and I’ll be honest. I was livid. That’s the only way to put it. I hate Thomas and Joanna and quite honestly I’m starting to cheer for them not to call the wedding off. The only saving grace they have is the money goes towards dogs and that’s the only saving grace.

I’m assuming these people are somewhere in their mid-20s, which means they think people still love going to weddings. If they are older than that then they should know the deal. People don’t love going to weddings anymore, especially, you know, during football season. You’ve been to 50 weddings already, seen it all, some were great, some were terrible. But, you don’t want to pay money to go to another wedding.

Here’s the other thing. As someone who somewhat recently went through the marriage process, you realize the day isn’t about you, especially if you’re the groom. The bride, yeah, all eyes on her and you hope the day works out perfectly. But, the day is all about making sure the guests are having a good time. You worry about how the food tastes. You worry about making sure the bar is open at all times. You worry about the DJ/band playing the hits and making sure people are dancing.

But if you think people want to go to your wedding, you’re a grade A asshole. If you think people want to donate $25 to go to your wedding, you’re an A+ asshole. There’s also 0 chance that this wedding is epic. It’s probably some generic white wedding and they 100% play shitty music like the macarena.

Just be normal, people. Invite your friends, family and have those few random people that are your parents friends and call it a day. Just be goddamn normal.
