WILTON — A 37-year-old White Plains man posed as the owner of the Boston Bruins and is now facing criminal charges, according to police.

Police said Jeffrey Jacobs, 37, lied about his identity to curry favor with a tree service company after a tree fell on his home on Drum Hill Road during a storm last year.

The tree company’s owner, who told police he was an avid Bruins fan, was enticed to come out to the home in the middle of the storm and later billed the $5,100 job to Jeremy Jacobs, the actual owner of the Bruins.

In May 2017, Wilton police learned of the incident when they received a call from the security department of Delaware North, a hospitality and food service management company chaired by the Bruins’ owner.

Police were familiar with Jacobs. They said he was pulled over in November and used a similar lie to try and get out of a traffic ticket.

A warrant for Jacobs’ arrest was obtained by police. Jacob was arrested Friday, July 20, by police in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., after he was pulled over for using his phone while driving. He was transferred to the Wilton Police Department later that night.

Jacobs was charged with criminal impersonation. He was released on a $5,000 bond and given a court date of July 30. (VIA THE HOUR)

So this guy Jeffrey Jacobs was arrested on Friday after pretending to be Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs in order to get out of a 5k tab from a tree service company, and while this is a pretty shitty thing of Jeffrey to do, I honestly don’t knock the hustle.

First off, Jeremy Jacobs is an asshole. So anytime anyone can hit him with a random $5,100 charge for something he didn’t pay for, they should do it. People forget, Jeremy Jacobs is a huge reason for the NHL lockouts. He’s an old stubborn prick who is as greedy as they come.

Jacobs was described as a bully during negotiations with the NHLPA in 2012-13 and was also described as one of “the most militant hard-line owners driving the lockout”. So by all means, Jeffy, feel free to keep trying to fuck this dude over. He doesn’t care about hockey, he doesn’t care about Boston, he doesn’t care about the Bruins, he cares about one thing and that is making money.

I certainly hope the people of Boston haven’t forgot about the $13.8m Jeremy Jacobs promised the city in fundraising and just never paid.

The NY Post once described Jacobs as: “The man who has been the voice behind the voice of Gary Bettman for each of the three owners’ lockouts. Clawing back oodles of money for the owners is his claim to fame. This is also the man whose penurious ways forced Raymond Bourque to flee Boston in search of a Stanley Cup, never mind the irony of No. 77 himself having parroted management’s stance for years when his Bruins teammates sought higher pay.”

The guy isn’t good for hockey and no hockey fan should like him.

But let’s get back to Jeffrey, who again, I can’t knock the hustle at all. Guy had a tree fall into his house, is that his fault? Absolutely not. And I’m not going to lie, when Claude Julien was hired by the Bruins I went to the mall and told the guy at foot locker he was my dad and I wanted a free pair of black and yellow shoes. He responded, “he is coming from the Canadiens, so you must speak French, can you ask for the shoes in French?” me and my buddies immediately ran out of the store. Granted, I was probably 14 at the time and this guys is like 37. But nonetheless, this guy is a hustler. The funny part of all of this is, the guy looks literally nothing like Jacobs. They just have the same last name. Maybe should of fronted as Jacobs son, Charlie?
