Wake Up With An NBA Countdown: Mike Breen Calls

Good morning everybody, happy Friday! Congratulations on making it to the end of the week. The weekend is on the horizon, all we have to do is get through this brutal last day. So what better way to make sure this day flies by than to get it started with some of the best Mike Breen “BANG!” calls of his career. You didn’t know how needed this but I guarantee it will pump you up. Who doesn’t love a classic “BANG!!” call? You couldn’t possibly have a heart and not love them.

Mike Breen is a legend in the NBA, he’s entering his 26th season as a broadcaster and unless you watch Knicks games you know he does basically every big game there is. To be honest I actually find myself watching Knicks games on League Pass just because I enjoy listening to Breen call a game so much. He officially took over for Marv Albert in 2004, and then in 2006 once Al Michaels left ABC he became the full time guy there as well. Outside of Mike, Tommy and Doris Burke, I’m not sure there is anyone else I’d rather listen to call a game. Breen just has an awesome way of capturing the big moment. Something about his voice I dunno.

I would put Breen’s “BANG!” Up there with Gus Johnson’s “Cold Blooded”/”From The Parking Lot” and “PUREEEEEE” as some of the best in game catch phrases going. Any time I watch a game Breen is doing I basically spend the whole time hoping it’s a close game so we get an all timer.There is simply nothing better on the basketball court in a big moment than hearing that emphatic call. You combine that with the crowd usually going crazy and it all adds up to quality basketball porn.
