Not To Be A Narc Or Anything But I'm Pretty Sure Tiesto Is Tampering Trying To Get Erik Karlsson To Vegas
So in case you didn’t know because he didn’t mention it about a thousand times yet, Erik Karlsson is currently is Scotland on a golf trip with Ryan Whitney and a bunch of other guys. Looks like a great time and everything. Maybe I’ll get the invite next time. Who knows. Either way, Erik Karlsson is ripping it up in Scotland right now while all the trade rumors are swirling around back here in North America. There were reports that a deal was done to send Karlsson to Tampa, but that has yet to happen. Now there are reports that Dallas are the front runners to land EK65. I’ll believe it when I see it. As it stands right now, nothing is off the table and all options are still open. Which would explain world renowned disc jockey, Tiesto, taking his shot on Erik Karlsson’s most recent post on Instagram to try to get him to Vegas.
Now while it may be “cool” or “neat” to see a hockey player get that sort of recognition and interaction with a star like Mr. Tiesto, it is very much important to keep something in mind here. Erik Karlsson is still very much under contract with the Ottawa Senators until the end of the 2018-19 NHL season. And while Karlsson is still under contract with the Senators, it is against NHL by-law 15 for Tiesto to be making these public comments to get Erik Karlsson to Vegas.
Now I know what some of you may be thinking right now. Maybe Tiesto is just offering for Erik Karlsson to visit Las Vegas on a golf trip like the one he’s on in Scotland right now. He never said anything about signing with the Golden Knights. Maybe this has nothing to do with hockey. But I just don’t know if you can sit there and honestly say to yourself that there are zero hidden intentions here by this Tiesto character. Vegas has been rumored to be a trading partner with Ottawa for Erik Karlsson since the NHL Trade Deadline at this point. They’ve been linked to Karlsson for months now. And all of a sudden Tiesto wants Karlsson to just “come to Vegas” to show him “the best golf course in the country”? Yeah, likely story.
Again, I don’t want to be a rat here. Snitches get stitches and everything like that. But this is the National Hockey League. And in the NHL, rules mean something. I’m not going to just let some disc jockey come in here and make a mockery out of them. So yeah. If I need to alert the right people that Tiesto is guilty of tampering and trying to get Erik Karlsson to sign with Vegas whilst still under contract with Ottawa, I’m going to alert the right people.
