[92.3 The Fan] - Kyrie missing games in the 2015 Eastern Conference Finals annoyed LeBron and LeBron’s people to no end. They were calling him soft and questioning his toughness, and LeBron was doing it in comments to the media.

Coley blogged a bit about this interview over the weekend and we’re starting to get more information. This one is one the flip side where LeBron was annoyed with Kyrie and him missing two games of the Eastern Conference Finals with a knee injury back in 2015.

Now it’s worth noting that Kyrie did break his kneecap in game 1 of the NBA Finals but it’s not clear if this had anything to do with the original injury. So it’s fair to ask. Who was right here? Should Kyrie sit out games in the playoffs if his knee is bothering him a bit? Or should LeBron be in the right to call out someone like Kyrie for missing two games?

Now, the key is calling him soft. That’s a word that athletes don’t want to hear let alone especially be called. That’s one that sticks with guys and just added another layer to these two despising each other. It’s been documented that Kyrie didn’t want LeBron to return to the Cavs, because, well, apparently Kyrie didn’t care too much about winning at the time and just wanted to be the guy. Having this happen the first year back probably just put an end to whatever chance this relationship had, despite winning.

I always enjoy stories coming out after a duo or a team breaks up. It just shows that winning doesn’t cure all, especially when you have big time egos. Now, what I will say is, it’s a miracle that they won as much as they did and were able to coexist on the court with everything else going on off the court. Credit to them for that.
