Robert Williams Will NOT Play Tonight And I Am Sad Online

Now I’m not going to do what everyone thinks I’m going to do and FREAK THE FUCK OUT about Robert Williams missing yet another Celtics summer league game. If anything, I’m sad, sad because those few possessions he had in his 7 minutes in the opener have left me wanting more. It didn’t take long for my homer brain to see those moments and go to a wild place, so it’s unfortunate that it has been ripped from us. At the same time, I am so shook by knee injuries and this team that I am perfectly OK if we don’t see him until Opening Night in October. I hear the words “knee” and “tendinitis” and “bruise” and my brain immediately says he’s out for the year. All we need now is the kiss of death by the Celtics saying it’s nothing serious and we’ll have a Kyrie 2.0 situation on our hands.

What I don’t want to see happen is exactly what I’m sure will happen and that’s the Boston media be quick to call this a bust pick. Given how Williams’ Celtics tenure has started I can get why it’s the low hanging fruit, and I know it’s a slow time in the sports calendar but we need to be better. The Celtics are being overly cautious and I have absolutely no problem with it. Sure these games matter on some level, but really that’s just me convincing myself that I’m not wasting hours and hours every night watching fake basketball.

So, if this is the only evidence we have that Robert Williams is in fact an NBA player, then so be it
