Ivan Provorov Works Out More In One Day Than Most People Do In One Month

Boston Bruins v Philadelphia Flyers

Ivan Provorov turned 21-years-old this past season. He averaged a little over 24 minutes on the ice per game in 2017-18 which puts him around the same ballpark as guys like PK Subban, Dustin Byguflien, Roman Josi, not too far off from guys like Brent Burns, Victor Hedman, and Shea Weber. All of those guys have been proven studs in this league for years now, and Provorov was only playing in his 2nd year in the NHL. And in order to log those types of minutes, especially at how young Provorov is, you need to be two things. 1) Really fucking good. And 2) an absolute work horse. Obviously his play on the ice speaks for itself, and then once you watch this draft profile on Andrei Svechnikov, you’ll see that Provorov has part 2 of that equation down as well.

So just a quick little breakdown for ya here on a typical day in the offseason of Ivan Provorov

  • On-ice from 6:15-7:45am
  • Gym from 8:15-11:30am
  • Yoga for an hour
  • Break
  • Track 5-7pm

Rinse & Repeat.

Listen. I know these guys are professional athletes. I know that working out is their job. I know that being in the gym doesn’t make Ivan Provorov special. But holy shit. An hour and a half on the ice to start the day. Followed up by THREE HOURS in the gym. Some yoga to cool down a little bit, all of this before lunch. And then finishing the day with 2 hours out on the track for some cardio. That is some serious Soviet Union Red Army type of shit right there. No wonder Ivan Provorov can play 24+ minutes a night in a hockey game. The dude is working out 7 and a half hours a day. Psychopath.

And that right there, my friends, is how Ivan Provorov is going to end up winning multiple Norris Trophies during his career and eventually wear the “C” with the Philadelphia Flyers Men’s Hockey Team. Russian Gas.
