People Are Upset Bryce Went To The Caps Game Wearing A Knights Jersey

So this is a big to-do on DC Sports Twitter today. Bryce went to the game last night in a Vegas jersey, and for the most part, the reaction has been mixed, leaning towards the negative side. Here are the main two points:

So point number 1 is he’s from Vegas, he’s doing nothing wrong by coming to the arena and supporting his team. Bryce has been on board since day 1, it’s not like he jumped on in March.

Point number 2 is fine, be a Knights fan, but when you’re Bryce Harper you represent DC as a whole. It’s a slap in the face to the Caps who have bent over backwards for him many times to make sure he’s taken care of at Caps games.

My take is this- I don’t have a problem with Bryce going to the game and supporting the Knights. But it was very tone-deaf. People are very, very protective of their sports teams, and Bryce knows this more than anyone. So for him to roll in like it’s not big deal in his Vegas jersey…nothing good can come of that. So I agree with both Grant and EB on this. I don’t have an issue with him coming to see his team in the Stanley Cup, but I can see how people think it’s a bad look. It’s sort of a no-win situation, if we’re being honest and realistic.

I think that caption is fair. When he’s on the field, he’s a DC guy, but he can root for whomever he wants as a fan. So in the end, the Caps did the smart thing and kept Bryce off the big screen. Which sucks because you want to put Bryce freaking Harper on the jumbo tron when he’s at your game. But he chose to rock the white instead of the red, so c’est la vie I suppose. He’s gonna look so good in pinstripes anyway, amiright?

Besides, we had Scherzer and Zim and they did exceptionally.
