I've Never Seen Caps Fans In Better Spirits After A Loss Than I Did Last Night

Good morning my friends. Another beautiful day in Las Vegas. Looking like it’s going to be 100 degrees and sunny, as is tradition. As I write this blog slightly hungover from last night’s game, I am happy to report the overall feelings of every Caps fan I met last night, and everything I read on Twitter. And those feelings are optimism, positivity, and the general vibe that this series isn’t even closeeee to being over.

When we were down 2-0 to Columbus in the first round, everyone said “same ol’ Caps”. I have the receipts. Then the Caps won 4 in a row and it was on to “well you’ll never beat the Penguins”. The Caps then beat the Penguins. But then it was “good job, but Tampa is too good, too fast”. And then the Caps went down 3 game to 2, and everyone said it was over. And all the Caps did was boat race them in games 6 and 7.

So no, this thing ain’t a done deal after 1 game. After 1 game in Vegas, home of the best home ice in the NHL. The Caps put 4 in on Fleury and Holtby wasn’t on his A-game. Adjustments will be made before Wednesday, and this series should return to DC knotted up at 1 a piece.

PS: There was a large contingent of Caps fans in the building last night. Most I talked to came out for the long weekend and bought tickets for Monday night as sort of a present to themselves. Kinda sucks we didn’t get to see a win but the game was awesome. It was what playoff/Stanley Cup hockey is all about.
