The Celtics Respond With A Blowout Game 5 Win

Exhale. The Boston Celtics have guaranteed themselves a Game 7 back in the Boston Garden…..if they need it. OK they’ll most likely end up needing it but let’s not get distracted. If I could sum up how I feel right now after watching this team blow the Cavs out it would be relief. Any time you have these sort of must win games against Lebron there is always going to be some part of you that is somewhat concerned. The fact that they played a complete game, got off to a good start, and finally got back to playing defense was everything I was praying for all day at work. Play like we’d seen them play all season, and you’d be fine. Brad pulled out his latest adjustment starting Baynes and I think that really set the tone for the whole game. The fact that he had a block, early bucket, and played great defense allowed the Celtics to use the home court advantage in their favor and drop 31 in the first. Credit Brad for waiting until the right possible moment to make the switch too. You think he always didn’t have this uP his sleeve? Clearly he was just waiting for the right moment to bust it out and catch the Cavs off guard. They had the same need in Game 4 as they did tonight, but he pushed the right button at the right time and it had a huge impact.

But let’s not kid ourselves. Jayson Tatum showed up big time with his 24 points. It wasn’t pretty, the Celtics once again shot like shit, but Tatum gave them just enough to absorb anything Lebron did, and Horford and Jaylen weren’t too far behind. The Celtics are now 10-0 at home and are 1 win away from the NBA Finals.
