Baker Mayfield Just Bodied Colin Cowherd On His Own Show

It’s the era of hot takes. Big name guys like Skip Bayless and Stephen A. have to convince themselves they passionately care about something for the sake of TV, when chances are they don’t give a shit. Being in the media, we’ve all been there. Hot takes get clicks. They also happen to get the attention of the people they’re about.

Cue Colin Cowherd. Hot take machine.

If you listen to his show, you know he absolutely hates Baker Mayfield. I don’t know exactly why he hates him (he doesn’t have a real reason), but he trashes him every chance he gets. At one point, he legit called him “a little pudgy.” What an analysis.

But did Colin Cowherd stop trashing the “undraftable” when he was selected #1 overall?

Of course he didn’t.

Yesterday, a local Cleveland radio host tweeted (and then deleted) that he didn’t think Baker looked “ready” to compete with Tyrod Taylor for the starting job.

Cowherd quote tweeted it and added this scorching take.

And Baker clapped back with a good dose of reality.

Simple. Effective. Accurate.

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!

All. The. Drama.

It was over before he even walked on set. A+++++ troll job.

And the interview didn’t disappoint. Baker was cool, calm and collected the entire time, even when Colin started playing the police footage of his arrest. (Yes, he actually played the footage for him and asked him to explain himself…)

I hate to be dramatic, but Baker absolutely destroyed him. They’ve had a back-and-forth going on social media for a while, but today Baker got to call him on his bullshit on national television and it was incredible. He’s now trending on Twitter because of how good it was.

Bodied.

The best part IMO? He hit Colin with “have you actually ever played football after high school?” dagger. As much as I usually disagree with this sentiment, it was cold blooded and well-deserved after all the criticism Colin has thrown his way.

The “you ain’t shit” smirk is absolutely phenomenal. Intern Jack Mac and I watched it live and laughed the entire time.

Baker Mayfield – 10000 Colin Cowherd – 0.

Talking heads dish it out, but athletes rarely get to clap back like Baker did today. Can we get more of this please?!? This was incredible entertainment. (And this is coming from somebody who has made a career off of analyzing athletes on-air)

I think Colin is one of the best in the game, but he pretty much back tracked the entire interview because there was nothing else he could do. Hiding behind a camera and a keyboard is a hell of a lot easier than face-to-face, huh??
