Barstool Undercover: The Belmont

belmont

(Picture taken at Belmont Park 10 minutes after the Belmont Stakes)

Well 4 years ago I was down there for the Smarty Jones disappointment, this year it was deja vu all over again with Big Brown. However this was much more than a disappointment, at least Smarty Jones finished the race. This, my friends, was a debacle.

So what happened?

Well as Chris "Mad Dog" Russo pointed out on WFAN Saturday morning, "It's an animal! You don't know how he's going to react. This isn't Jordan vs. the Knicks!"

True. Unlike Jordan vs. the Knicks, you simply don't know for sure how a horse is going to respond to a given situation.

For whatever reason (the mob?), Big Brown obviously wasn't himself on Saturday. Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was the track, or maybe I just "mushed" the horse simply by showing up. Hey, nobody really knows. All I know is that coming around the final turn it looked like Shaq was riding Big Brown instead of Kent Desormeaux.

Regardless, we waited 30 years for a Triple Crown, we'll have to wait at least one more. And, although I told everyone 15 times that Big Brown would lose the Belmont, unfortunately I did not have Da'Tara. I think the only people who did were Nick Zito's next door neighbor, people who like the #6, and the old bag pictured above.

See you in August for the Travers...

Barstool Local Smokeshow of the Day (Holly)

Introducing Holly from Umass. Holly runs track at the Zoo which is a total turn on for me.  If there is anything sexier than a hot chick who is good at sports than I don’t know what is.   I think it’s because I just figure that if we have kids they’d totally be pro athletes or something.   For example, yesterday I went to the beach and saw some broad throwing a football like 50 yards against the wind in the ocean.  She was built like a Russian Tank but it was still kind of hot.

Keep the smokeshow nominations coming!   No nominations equal no smokeshows.  It’s as simple as that.  Send all nominations to randomthoughts@barstoolsports.com

Is Rachel Nichols Too Hot For This Guy?

r

Don Chavez sent me this picture of Rachel Nichols of ESPN hanging out in Faneuil Hall this afternoon. Here is my question. Could this be a love connection? Or is Rachel Nichols clearly out of this dude's league? I got to be honest. If I saw these two walking down the street I don't think I'd blink. Plus I kind of think Rachel is digging him. I mean look at how she is sneaky trying to rub her elbow against his. If that's not a sign that's she's in heat than I don't know what is.

Vote 1 for Rachel Nichols is too hot for this guy and 10 for they are a perfect match

This Is The Lakers Only Chance To Beat Us....Pick A Fight When It Is 30,000 Vs.1

This video is from the Staples Center last night where it appears 30,000 Lakers fans tried to take out their frustration by attacking a lone brave Celtics fan. Apparently this is the type of matchup the Lakers need to win at anything. They can't beat us on the court. The can't beat us 1 on 1. They can't even beat us 2 on 1. So how about 30,000 vs. 1? Typical LA scumbags. You got to love the guy who threw the chair. That's totally a Kobe move to knock out his victim before he rapes them.

Water Balloon Fight Goes Bad The Morning of High School Graduation in Harwich

HARWICH, Mass. -- A 17-year-old student was hit by a car early Friday morning during a water balloon fight, said police. The incident happened around 5:45 a.m. in front of the Harwich High School on Oak Street.  Police said senior students had a sleepover under a tent set up for Sunday's graduation when a car full of juniors showed up and started a water balloon fight. One of the drivers tried to leave, but the grass was wet and the car slid, hitting a female senior. She was pushed up onto the car's hood.  The unidentified victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with non life-threatening injuries to her leg.

Man Harwich knows how to party huh?   See this is why I love the Cape. High School is still like Dazed and Confused down there.  I mean you got to love a senior sleep over under a tent the night before graduation.  It must have been like a huge orgy with chicks getting fucked everywhere.  And I ain’t mad at the Juniors for showing up with water balloons either.  Just adds to the pageantry of the whole thing.  But I just don’t get why they tried to flee.   I mean is it really worth doing a water balloon hit and run?  I thought the whole point was to get all the girls wet and then start groping them.

PS - I hope the chick who got run over is okay. It sounds like she is which is why I wrote this blog.

Manny Vs. Youk....Youk Had It Coming?

I know that with the Celtics on the verge of winning yet another world championship many people have kind of ignored or forgotten about Manny bitch slapping Youk the other night.  But I got to tell you I’ve been stunned at the stories that have been coming out since this event. It seems that the media is saying this whole thing was Youk’s fault.  Apparently everybody hates Youk because he throws tantrums every time he makes an out and Manny finally said enough is enough.   Umm, excuse me but what planet am I on?  I’m not saying this isn’t what happened or that the reports aren’t true, but if you told me that Youk would be painted as the bad guy in this incident right after it occurred I would have told you that you were insane.  I mean the media lives to jump on Manny for any little indiscretion that he makes.  But then he goes out and backhands a teammate and it’s Youk’s fault?   And since when does Manny care what anybody does anyway?   The story just doesn’t make any sense to me at all.  It’s like it happened in a bizarro world or something.

Celtics Blog: Phil Jackson Can Start Outcoaching Doc Rivers Anytime Now

Phil Jackson

It was supposed to be the biggest mismatch of the series. Basketball guru, master motivator and 9-time NBA champion Phil Jackson versus Doc "I have no set rotation" Rivers. Now that the Celtics have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the series, ol' Phil can reach into his bag of tricks and start outcoaching Doc. Go ahead, make your move, the whole world is waiting. What's that, you got nothing? Pau Gasol has disappeared in the second half of both games and there is nothing you can do? Last night you said Lamar Odom looked confused. Can you use some of that zen-bullshit to set him straight? Here's one thing you can do; take Vladimir Radmanovic off Paul Pierce. The boy is getting killed out there. I swear he's fouling Pierce on purpose just to grab a seat on the bench. Leon Powe embarrassed your entire team. A 24-year-old, second round pick with a bum knee outworked, outhustled and outplayed everyone in purple-and-gold. How's that possible with the Great Jacko behind the bench? Could you diagram some type of defense to stop that man? (Maybe this analysis will help) Kobe Bryant can't get to the hoop because of the Celtics stifling team defense. Can you wake up Tex Winter and draw up some special rectangle play? Do something, anything.

Or Kobe can't get to the basket because his arm is ripped off with no call....sickening....

theCount, Jun 09 2008, 12:46 pm

I'm loving this Laker meltdown. Freaking awesome! Maybe they should quit bitching about the ref's and try playing some D. They let Leon Powe dribble the ball the entire length of the court and dunk it in. Leon Powe!

stoolified, Jun 09 2008, 12:55 pm

Celtics proved they cant win shit on the road all playoffs.. If they didnt have hoe court advantage they would be out of the playoffs already.. We havent lost at home in the playoffs and neither have Boston.. Well see how they come out after losing 3 in a row in La.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 12:55 pm

I won't make any bets cause I'm not much of an NBA guy but I would not be surprised if this comes back to Boston. Even with out the foul shot disparity, the Lakers look totally out of rhythm. Lots of turnovers in the paint. Everyone except Koby looks afraid of going to the basket. Hell, I turned it the channel to watch "The Soup" and "Chelses Lately".

Totally outplayed and don't give me "you didn't see the 4th quarter" C's still won so I didn' miss much.

hattori hanzo, Jun 09 2008, 12:55 pm

Leon Poew ass raped us.. I guess Phil forgot to mention that we have to play defense.. oh well. We need to get back home and regain our confidence.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 12:56 pm

The 4th quarter was too little too late.. like i said since the beginning we only need 1 out of 4 in boston.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 12:58 pm

— I'll poop on ur chest

Boston has lost at home first off, game 2 against Detroit. There is no chance in hell that the C's lose all 3 in LA, not going to happen. But it is good to know you know nothing about basketball.

p.s Worst line in Vegas history maybe is the C's catching 10pts in game 3. Am I missing something?

mcollura, Jun 09 2008, 1:00 pm

Got to give it to poop on chest. Complaining about home court advantage is a legit point. They pick that out of a hat right?

elpresidente, Jun 09 2008, 1:00 pm

Celtics proved they cant win shit on the road all playoffs.. If they didnt have hoe court advantage they would be out of the playoffs already.. We havent lost at home in the playoffs and neither have Boston.. Well see how they come out after losing 3 in a row in La.
— I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 12:55 pm

get your facts straight jack ass.
also, i seem to remember a series clinching win on the road. but nice try.

Eric Shun, Jun 09 2008, 1:01 pm

mcollara,

Correction. Worst line in history was lakers -190 for the series when they are outclassed at every postion including coach

elpresidente, Jun 09 2008, 1:01 pm

You def will lose all 3 in la.. thats not the question.. the question is can we figure out a way to win in your house.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:02 pm

By no means is this series even close to being done. One game a a time.

friar17, Jun 09 2008, 1:03 pm

You earned home court advantage shit licker. You guys suck balls on the road.. its not a secret. You can act like it is all you want.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:04 pm

Laker meltdown = losing by a narrow margin with terrible officiating.

Perfect home team losing all it's home games vs. the worst away team = Boston Logic.

If the Lakers can beat the Spurs at home they can definitely beat Celts there at least once.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:05 pm

2 road wins in the Eastern Conference Finals. Eat shit.

Pokey Reese, Jun 09 2008, 1:06 pm

exactly magic.. finally someone who isnt a complete douchebag drunk on bostonian nonsense.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:06 pm

El Pres-

You need to figure a way out to get an online pool going through paypal or something so morons like I'll poop on your chest can put up some coin when making ludicrous statements, most of which are not even factually correct.

Those 2 lines, -190 for the series and -10 for game 3 are both really bad lines. Can't wait to bet everything I own on Tuesday night.

mcollura, Jun 09 2008, 1:07 pm

It's only been two games that you had to win anyway.

If Boston wins in LA then you can speak.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:08 pm

Boston's road record: 31-10
Laker's road record: 27-14

Eric Shun, Jun 09 2008, 1:09 pm

You fuckers have a damn good team.. but winning in LA will be a diff story and mcollura ive arelady lost mad money on this series so lick balls.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:10 pm

The good news for the Lakers is that their big men each grow 2 inches and lose their "softness" at home, so they have that going for them.

LA NEEDS to win all 3 games or this series is OVER. Have fun doing that against a team that has lost 3 in a row once all season.

mcollura, Jun 09 2008, 1:11 pm

poop,

Lakers can't matchup with Celts. Sucks for you but those are the facts. That's why we beat your asses like a drum everytime we play you. Playoffs and regular season.

elpresidente, Jun 09 2008, 1:12 pm

Boston's road: 2-7
Laker's home: 8-0

How retarded do you have to be to believe the regular season matters for anything at this point. You would think the hawks beat this into your skulls but I guess not.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:12 pm

I'm a Celtics fan like the rest of you, but I wouldn't call a 2-0 lead 'commanding.' Boston needs to win one of three in LA. I'll go further and say that that win needs to come tomorrow or Thursday, because, let's face it, if they lose 3 & 4, they'll also lose 5. That place will be Jacked-Up for Game 5, and not in a Boston-friendly way. So, message to Boston: 'Git 'er Done in Game 3 or 4!'

Shamrock1957, Jun 09 2008, 1:12 pm

i'll poop on your chest. How was vegas? If you have any money left, right here right now I'll bet you a grand that the Celtics win at least one of these road games. Should be easy money for you. If you want to give me 2-1 because you're so confident, I'll take that as well.

duffman000ya, Jun 09 2008, 1:15 pm

El pres... you have had you have had your bitch ass way with us.. and they way we are playing hnoestly is gross. It hasnt been easy watching the last two games.. Well what happens tomorrow.. I pray to god theses fucks win all 3

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:16 pm

Chuck, I was definitely one who criticized your choice to rate coaching "even," and I was wrong, while you were prescient. It's great to see Doc coaching so well, and I have to say, even though I thought it wouldn't happen, I'm very glad it is.

"Lakers can't matchup with Celts. Sucks for you but those are the facts. That's why we beat your asses like a drum everytime we play you. Playoffs and regular season."
— elpresidente, Jun 09 2008, 1:12 pm

Spot on prez, plus, no one mentions that Paul Pierce ALWAYS plays well when he goes home (aka LA). As long as the C's stay focused and keep pushing, they should be able to win this thing in LA.

unconquered, Jun 09 2008, 1:16 pm

Since when did the Western Conference become the National League?
Except unlike the DH in the NL I believe you are still allowed to play Defense in the Western Conference.

If it was DET vs. LA with DET having home court is there any doubt LA would still be down 2-0???

j44thor, Jun 09 2008, 1:17 pm

duffman .. .i lost my fucking ass already. Drunken pride cost me alot last night. Im not betting any dipshit over a blog a grand.. should we shake on it? hahaha homo. Just tune in tomorrow night.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:17 pm

Matchups? To base your decision on which TEAM you think is going to a game solely on an individual vs individual basis is the dumbest logic ever. It's that same logic that was used to predict Lakers over Detroit in '04. The match ups here are pretty even, no where near as skewed as in '04 so you're wrong to think that anyway. Phil is reason why we will win in 7 and Pop was also the reason why the Spurs did it against New Orleans in their series being down 2-0.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:18 pm

I'm sick and tired of people saying regular season doesn't matter in hoops. It does. Matchups matter. Just ask Golden State and Dallas. And if it didn't matter the two teams with the best records in the league wouldn't be playing in the
Finals

elpresidente, Jun 09 2008, 1:18 pm

Something tells me when your talking shit on a blog, you should at least re-read it before hitting the old 'post comment' button. Clean it up Poop on chest..."you have had, you have had"

Lakers dont stand a chance, and Kobe is a fuckin miserable bitch.

Peirce owns...

VegasTmac, Jun 09 2008, 1:19 pm

You guys are up 2-0... Id be stoked talking mad shit too. Well see how you fruit cakes and the Celtics handle some road losses.

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:20 pm

Look how much time this idiot is spending on a Boston Sports site.

VegasTmac, Jun 09 2008, 1:21 pm

Last time I checked, we won TWO games on the road in the last series.

the Next time the Celtics come back to Boston, it'll be on a Duck Boat Parade.

Danno, Jun 09 2008, 1:22 pm

Two teams with the best records? FIVE teams in the west had virtually the same the record.

Maybe you should tell every single credible sports analyst why you think a game back in November of last year is going to have any effect on a finals game in June.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:23 pm

duffman .. .i lost my fucking ass already. Drunken pride cost me alot last night.

I'll poop, if you're so sure the Lakers will win borrow the money. Hell, go ask your Mom for it. She may have to suck 1000 cocks but you're betting on a sure thing right?

I'll poop on ur chest, Jun 09 2008, 1:29 pm

"PS-Let me guess, your Lakers in 5 prediction, suddenly was Lakers in 6 all along..."

Thats definitely what happened when the ref's decided to give the Celts 20 more free throw attempts last game. I think you're starting to get it.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:31 pm

I'll poop, ever since you started charging $2.00 she'd had to give a discount.

duffman000ya, Jun 09 2008, 1:35 pm

Chuck, I was definitely one who criticized your choice to rate coaching "even," and I was wrong, while you were prescient. It's great to see Doc coaching so well, and I have to say, even though I thought it wouldn't happen, I'm very glad it is.

Thanks man - and prescient is much too big a word to use on this blog.

BigMck, Jun 09 2008, 1:35 pm

Thats definitely what happened when the ref's decided to give the Celts 20 more free throw attempts last game. I think you're starting to get it.

— Magic Johnson

Any what would merit more free throws for the Lakers? When Kobe won't goto the paint because he's scared do the refs give it to him for taking wide open jumpers than he can't sink on the outside?

duffman000ya, Jun 09 2008, 1:36 pm

You're supposed to win your home games. 2-0 isn't "commanding" it's expected. Hell, the hawks could have beaten the lakers with some of the calls made the last game. But yeah, I'm sure everyone agrees Rivers is a better coach than Jackson...NOT! For the record I'm not a lakers fan or a celtics fan, and I'm being completely objective. I understand the homerism but please it's getting embarrassing.

drwho13, Jun 09 2008, 1:37 pm

What would merit more free throws? When you have more points in the paint than your opponent but 1/4 as many trips to the line. It's as if you people didn't even watch the game or something.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:38 pm

Wow...so NY fans aren't the most retarded sports fans on the planet, huh? I learn something new every day.

TheAdmiral, Jun 09 2008, 1:42 pm

You guys blaming that loss on the ref's is pathetic. Only losers blame the ref's.

stoolified, Jun 09 2008, 1:44 pm

Wow. If only the Lakers were as aggressive as the Lakers fans posting on this message board they would actually get to the line.

itsMurda, Jun 09 2008, 1:48 pm

The sad part is, the theme of last night's game will be the theme of the series, except the Lakers won't have only 5 minutes to come back and win, they will have a 5 whole games. WOO HOO you're 2-0 at home after lopsided officiating - which will hopefully stop. When is the parade?

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 1:49 pm

Probably sometime next week. Im guessing either Tuesday if we close it out Sunday night. If not then Thursday a couple days after when we close it out in game 6.

You should probably book your plane tickets early because of the rise in fuel charges.

itsMurda, Jun 09 2008, 1:54 pm

we (celtics fans) watched our team get porked by the refs all playoffs, we complained about it, and watched our team win anyway.

lakers fans, go ahead and cry about the refs, we did it too, and we'll do it again.... what it comes down to is.. the celtics have proven to win despite the refs, and now they win with the refs.

the refs blow? welcome to reality. good teams get by regardless.

mark, Jun 09 2008, 1:57 pm

Hey cunty - C's won both games. You can throw all the stats up you want but it changes NOTHING.

BTW the C's at one point in Atlanta series were looking at a free throw disparity of 70+. You know why? They stayed out of the paint and took jump shots - sound familiar?

Bottom Line - Lakers played like ass for two games in the finals and you have sour grapes - go away.

No it doesn't you moron. I just showed you(because it obviously seems like no one actually watched the game so I have to use stats) that the Lakers went to the paint and weren't getting any calls, so no that doesn't sound familiar to the situation when the Celts only shot jump shots and didn't go the paint.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 2:45 pm

Number of time Kobe complains to ref per game: 53
Number of time LeBron James complains to ref per game: 50

You're very uninformed, their reasons for complaining were totally different. Kobe complained because no one was calling fouls for when people were trying to rip his arm off and Lebron was complaining that Pierce was flopping all over the place and was still getting calls.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 2:46 pm

They were only calling fouls when he was trying to elbow people like Ray Allen in the face. I'm sorry I must be uniformed.

But those plays totally shouldn't be called you know, just like streetball. How preposterous if the refs knew anything they should call a foul on Pau Gasol just in principle because he couldn't catch Kobe's pass under the rim.

Every time Kobe gets angry and scowls, someone is at fault. Why can't the refs see that! Someone needs to be blamed, not Kobe he never fucked up once.

itsMurda, Jun 09 2008, 2:53 pm

They spare no expense on cleverness or classes in which you learn to back up statements with air out of your ass up in Boston.

Magic Johnson, Jun 09 2008, 3:06 pm

I'm a little late to the party here because my boss wants me to, you know, actually work once in a while but I gotta say we're all wasting a lot of tuime arguing with Magic here. His whine-baggery obviously knows no bounds so...

Phil Jackson has no answer because the refs took his mojo last night. That's basically all he talked about at his press conference. This just in Phil, when Kobe is on the bench your team sucks. When Kobe is frustrate your team sucks. Don't hate because we play defense and your team lets Leon Powe go coast to coast untouched. Isn't the golden rule of transition basketball, stop the ball? Didn't they teach you that in coaching school?

Don't Fuck With This Kid

We've given alot of advice over the years here at the Stool, but none more important than this. Whatever you do, do not under any circumstances fuck with this kid. Because I promise you he will wear your ass out. But having said that even he couldn't save the Lakers.

Kareem Who?  Jabbar Can’t Get Into The Garden

i

Inside Track - That Los Angeles Lakers icon - and BIG Celtics [ team stats] fan - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar couldn’t get access into the TD Banknorth Garden the other night before Game 1! Kareem, who is working for Comcast SportsNet during the NBA Finals, was stopped at the media entrance for lack of credentials. He was then sent to the players entrance (because he’s tall?), but couldn’t get in there. So he went back to the media entrance where, finally, WBZ-TV’s Steve Burton came to his rescue by ringing up an NBA gatekeeper. Kareem was overheard telling Burton, “It’s got to be the ghost of Red (Auerbach).”

Ha I love it!  Welcome to Boston Kareem.  Either get your fucking press credentials in order or buy a ticket like everybody else.  It just sucks that Steve Burton bailed him out, but I’m not surprised.   I bet Burton forced Kareem to let him smell his crotch before he let him in.  I mean nobody is a bigger jock sniffer than Steve Burton.  Nobody.

Pats Rookie Free Agent Punter Mike Dragosavich's Larryoke Performance Gets Him Cut

As I'm sure many people know this past weekend was Larryoke. This of course is Larry Izzo's annual Karaoke fund raiser to support the troops. Well it wasn't all fun and games this year. The above video is of Pats free agent punter Mike Dragosavich singing Physical. Apparently Mike didn't get the memo that if you are an absolute nobody you're not supposed to try and steal the spotlight at Larryoke. Sure singing Physical may fly for Wes Welker or even Matt Cassel, but not a free agent punter who nobody has heard of. The result is that less than 24 hours after his performance Dragosavich was cut by the Pats. Coincidence? I think not! You just know that Belichick saw this video and was like "Who the fuck is this guy? Get him the fuck out of here!" And that my friends is why we are a dynasty. You're a free agent punter and you want to sing Physical at Larryoke? See ya later buddy....

Here are some of the other performances if you're interested....

Matt Cassel, Wes Welker, Matt Light, Wesley Britt doing "Baby Got Back"

Matt Cassel, Kyle Eckel, Ray Ventrone, and Wes Welker doing New Kids "The Right Stuff"

Stephen Gostkowski doing "Ice Ice Baby"

Leon Powe Vs. Wilt.....Who Ya Got?

l

Before anybody starts with this 4th quarter comeback mumbo jumbo let me clarify that it will have NO factor on anything the rest of the series. Celts just took their gas off the pedal. End of story. We are 100 times better than the Lakers and every other team in the West just like I said we were. Poor Kobe. Where's Shaq in his prime when you need him?
