Peruvian "Mystery Horse" Revealed...
Last week espn.com’s Bill Finley wrote an article on Peruvian 3 year old super horse Tomcito and referred to him as a “mystery horse”. First off, how is Tomcito considered a "mystery horse" when he’s already on Youtube? Doesn’t seeing him kind of take the mystery out of the equation? Anyway after watching the above video, I’m definitely intrigued by Tomcito. I know it’s all in Espanol, but pay close attention to the horse in dead last on the FAR outside when they make the turn for home.

Craig Hansen is a Bust Because He Hasn't Been Sleeping?

[T]hanks in large part to the diagnosis of his sleep apnea, and a subsequent surgery to treat the condition, he couldn’t be happier...“Right now, I feel like I have a lot of energy,” Hansen said. “I feel like I could do a lot of things that I couldn’t do before. I got the (surgery) done, so now is the season to look forward to.
Well, this explains everything. I've been waiting to find out the cause of Hansen being the biggest bust of the Theo era, but I figured we'd have to wait for him to get traded, then all the beat writers would give us the inside dirt they never have to the balls to tell us while a guy is still around. I'd heard rumblings...little hints like Steve Buckley or someone would praise Manny Delcarmen for being really coachable and contrast him with Hansen who euphemistically "could use a change of scenery." Now we find out he's been falling asleep at meetings, something that, call me crazy, might have something the fans should have been told about before now.
But this is great news for me personally. Not just as a Red Sox fan, who'd like to see Hansen become a productive member of the bullpen, but to me as a full time, underachieving slacker. I'd been running out of exotic ailments to use as an excuse at work, and I'd completely overlooked Sleep Apnea. I've gone through Monkey Pox, Mad Cow, EEE, SARS... plus that unfortunate bout of Tourette's. But the rare diseases have been getting harder to come by lately, and this Sleep Apnea thing is perfect. Maybe not for banging in sick necessarily, but it should explain away my half-assed performance. "Sorry I've only written two blogs all week, El Prez. Blame it on my enlarged uvula." Perfect. Thanks, Craig Hansen. You've earned every penny of that signing bonus.

Celtics Blog: Another win....zzzzzzzzzz.
The Celtics reached the 40-win mark last night in uninspiring fashion. After sleepwalking through 3 quarters, the C’s awoke in the fourth and finished off the Pacers. Never, at any point, was I concerned the Celtics would blow this game. Even without KG and other injured players (see Perkins, Pollard), I never wavered. Call me dumb, but at the very least call me confident. In less than one year, this “winning attitude” has been instilled in the team and fans. And it feels good. As for the game….PP (28 pts, 12 reb, 5 asst) was magnificent. So was Leon (16 pts, 9 reb) while playing center. He also had a +/- 24. (Anyone know why the NBA decided to include that as a stat? It’s been hockey-only for as long as I can remember.) Unlike the Celtics, I’m unable to cap this uninspired post with a strong finish. Bring on the Knicks….

Clemens Hearings Going Well!
For those of you interested in the Clemens Congressional Hearings here is what you are missing. So far the only thing that Clemens and McNamee have agreed on is that Debbie Clemens was indeed on the juice. At least they can agree on something! Poor Debbie. Other than that the Congressmen are doing lots of grandstanding and whenever Clemens doesn’t like the question he just says “I don’t remember.” Occasionally his lawyer will tap him on the shoulder to give him advice after hearing a question and 100 out of 100 times his response after this exchange has also been “I don’t remember.” Oh, and Osama Bin Laden streaked across the floor of the hearing, but people were too busy trying to figure out what type of sandwich Clemens ate at Jose Canceco’s barbecue to do anything about it. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Don't Call This Cop "Dude" Or Else He'll Freak The Fuck Out
Dude, don’t call this cop dude or else he’s going to freak the fuck out. And I don’t blame him either. I’d be edge on to if I had to drive around in that little Yugocart all day. I mean I’m sure people don’t give him much respect driving around in that thing so sometimes he just takes it. Plus I’m always hesitant to pass judgments in videos like these because I hate skate boarders and don’t trust them as far as I can bowl them. Something tells me this kid was probably saying lots of shit besides “Dude” that we couldn’t hear. Regardless when will bully cops learn? If you’re going to choke slam a 14 year old X gamer make sure you destroy all the cameras first. Because these punks always carry video cameras to record policy brutality. In fact, it should be rule #1 in the cop handbook. “When attacking skateboarders smash all their electronics and then whoop ass” It’s just common sense really. If this kid falls and breaks his wrist his parents sue the corporation that owns the land he is skateboarding on. The owner of the corporation probably complains to the cops all the time about skateboarders on his property. The cops are caught up in the middle catching shit from everyone involved. If they let the kids skate they catch a ration of shit and if they tell the kids to stop skating they catch disrespectful backtalk from punk kids. The cops come in too late?
The only reason that is the case is because they havent perfected the art of predicting when and where a crime is about to happen. Once they perfect that skill you will find the police to be a little more punctual.

I think what drives people crazy about cops is how they break our balls about the law, yet they are above it.
Ex. Drafting cars on the masspike and doing 90 - 100 mph, yet some guy doing 5-10 miles over the speed limit gets a ticket.
On the flip side, you call that choke hold brutality? The kid was not harmed in any way. While I agree that the cop should not touch someone without a good reason I disagree this is brutality in any way shape or form. That is problem with the world today. Kids think they are entitled to do what they want when they want and if anyone tries to stop them they will run home and cry to mom and dad. And the worst part is the mom and dad will jump to the kids defense instead of addressing the fact that their kid was tresspassing, skateboarding illegaly, and speaking direspectfully to a cop. i'll admit that the cop used a little excessive force, esp. considering this is a fourteen year old kid who looks like he ways about eighty pounds, but other than that this kid deserves it. yeah, cops get a bad rep and sometimes they deserve it, but they do have to put up with plenty of shit on a consistent basis. kids these days don't show cops any respect and it's a disgrace. it's one thing for a grown man to talk back a little he has a bit of a leg to stand on, but it's another for some fourteen year old punk. and it all comes down to parents, too. if i ever did what that kid did and my father found out he probably would have beat me with the skateboard. but parents nowadays blame the cops. it's sick. again, esp. at those ages there is a level of respect you're supposed to show to cops and all adults that kids just don't have anymore.
on a side note, i actually saw an event similar to this (live) in ottawa. now i don't know what started it but a cop was trying to cuff some goth punk and of course the kid was resisting. and of course some clown was videotaping it making remarks about police brutality and how he was going to put it on the net or whatever. took a lot of restraint for me not to just sock him. if you cooperate with cops they're probably not going to give you a hard time. but if you be a wise ass, etc., they will and then you're just getting what you deserve.

I live in Maryland, been to Baltimore plenty enough times to know that the city is a melting pot of criminals and whack jobs. I don't need "The Wire" to tell me that. The cop in this situation had no clue how to differentiate between handling a punk kid from the burbs as opposed to a crack dealer. I guess his new tactic was to ask if he could speak to the kids mom. Maybe he should try that next time he puts the cuffs on someone from the east side of Bmore.

Unfortunately, Dude is suspended *with pay*, meaning he's on paid vacation til Ball-more IA investigates, looks at the video (probably months from now) and decides Dude's spandex-clad ass is not even fit for mall cop status. The kid's parents will file lawsuits, win handily in civil court, and Dude will be paying the skater's way through college. Lesson to be learned: Dunkin Donuts + steroids + realizing one's life failures = unemployment + public ridicule + settlement payouts til the gun goes in the mouth.
