Should People Boycott The Herald Until They Fire John Tomase?

As everybody knows by now John Tomase did his best to get invited on WEEI and Around the Horn next week by writing an article insinuating that the Pat's videotaped the Rams Fluff Practice before the Superbowl. Of course he refused to name his source even though everybody already knows it's former Pats employee Matt Walsh who was fired 3 years ago and has an axe to grind with the team. Walsh had been this shopping this story to anybody who would listen and he finally hit the jackpot with Tomase who was as desperate as Walsh to make a big splash at the Superbowl. In many respects it was a match made in heaven. Anyway, I've already written a blog about how ridiculous this entire thing is, but I want to take it to the next level. I don't think we should let Tomase get away with this type of yellow journalism. Drastic times calls for drastic measures. I think we need to boycott the Boston Herald (except the Inside Track) until Tomase either issues a formal apology for publishing this garbage or the Herald fires his ass. Something has to give here. I'm not going to just sit by and let some fat bastard reporter who is desperate for attention make shit up just so he can see his name in lights. Not on my watch.
Breaking News: Andre Tippett in the Hall of Fame

As the Patriots creep ever closer to immortality, it seems like every human colostomy bag in America is lining up to diminish what they're about to accomplish. Arlen Specter, Mercury Morris, Gregg Easterbrook and a million others are tearing at each other for a place in the spotlight so they can be the loudest one to tell us the Patriots record doesn't mean anything and Oh, by the way...Pay attention to me everybody...
With all that being thrown at the Patriots, it's the perfect time for some good news, and it's come in the form of LB Andre Tippett getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. That makes him just the second career Patriot in Canton after John Hannah, and it's long goddamned overdue.
Tippett was a beast. One of the great pass rushing LBs in NFL history who was also unblockable against the run and could drop into pass coverage with the best of them. There are only two reasons he had to wait so long for induction:
- In spite of his efforts, the Patriots sucked for most of his career.
- Lawrence Taylor
Tippett suffered from comparisons to Taylor as they played the same role on two very different teams. Was Taylor better? Sure. But not by so much that one was a first ballot guy and the other had to sweat it out for 14 years. As the Globe pointed out, Tippett had 100 career sacks, Taylor had 132.5, a difference of 1.4 per season. He also had two fewer cocaine suspensions than Taylor and never got the publicity that comes from instant-classic quotes like "She set me up like a motherfucker..." Mike Vrabel, who's been wearing a Tippett
throwback jersey in practice said it as well as anybody: "We get the media guide and I look at those numbers and I'm like, I had a pretty good season [12 1/2 sackes], I'm still six sacks away, or whatever, from Tippett. So, it's like he really was a great player. He gave the fans of New England something to look forward to when they had a bad team."
My favorite Tippett story came off the field. In his playing days he lived in a condo not far from where I lived in Weymouth. There was an old bucket of blood nightclub in town called The Great Escape (aka The Great Mistake) where Tippett was hanging out one night with a buddy. According to the news reports Tip, a black belt, kicked the crap out of some guy. Anyone who knew anything about Tippett,... and The Great Mistake ... knew what had happened. Some douchebag, full of more liquid courage than brains, tried to make a name for himself by picking a fight with toughest guy on the Pats. And he found out the hard way what every quarterback, tight end and offensive lineman in the NFL already knew: you didn't F with Andre Tippett. He was already a legend, that night he was a hero. Now he's an Immortal. Congratulations. It's about time.
NY Times Reports That Rams Spied On Pats Before Superbowl When It Happened!
By JUDY BATTISTA
Published: February 2, 2002
NY TIMES FEB 2 2002 - The Patriots practiced for 1 hour 54 minutes in cool temperatures at Tulane University, and every player was pronounced fit and ready to play. Quarterback Tom Brady moved well throughout practice and said his sprained left ankle did not bother him at all. ''On Sunday night, I expect it to be 100 percent,'' he said. Halfway through practice, Patriots' linebackers coach Pepper Johnson noticed something in a third-floor window of a house next to the field. Club and league officials said a telescope was clearly visible in the window, according to a pool report, and that 15 minutes later, a person appeared at the window, and then vanished.
Hmm, think we'll be the only website in the world that reports this? I GUARANTEE if this was the Pats with the telescope there would literally be a Federal Investigation. And by literally I mean literally. Hell Arlen Specter may still investigate how the Rams spying on the Pats was actually considered cheating by the Pats. Don't ask me how he'll make that argument, but it won't be any crazier than anything else everybody is saying right now. Like we've said from the beginning. Everybody tapes and films and spies on everybody. The only difference is that we're the best and everybody is jealous of us and hates Belichick. So when we kick people's ass and stomp on their dick there is nothing for them to do but bitch and moan like sore losers.
Next Bit Of Terrorist Propoganda; Pats Taped Rams Fluff Practice Before Super Bowl

Bostonherald.com - One night before the Patriots[ team stats] face the Giants in Super Bowl XLII, new allegations have emerged about a Patriots employee taping the Rams’ final walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI. According to a source, a member of the team’s video department filmed the Rams’ final walkthrough before that 2002 game. The next day, the Patriots upset St. Louis, 20-17, on a last-second field goal by Adam Vinatieri for their first championship. A walkthrough involves practicing plays at reduced speed without contact or pads. It is common for teams to film their own walkthroughs and practices. According to a source close to the team during the 2001 season, here’s what happened. On Feb. 2, 2002, one day before the Patriots’ Super Bowl game against heavily favored St. Louis in New Orleans, the Patriots visited the Superdome for their final walkthrough. After completing the walkthrough, they had their team picture taken and the Rams then took the field. According to the source, a member of the team’s video staff stayed behind after attending the team’s walkthrough and filmed St. Louis’ walkthrough. At no point was he asked to identify himself or produce a press pass, the source said. The cameraman rode the media shuttle back to the hotel with news photographers when the Rams walkthrough was completed, the source said. It’s not known what the cameraman did with the tape from there. It’s also not known if he made the recording on his own initiative or if he was instructed to make the recording by someone with the Patriots or anyone else.
This is literally becoming surreal. We have an unnamed source saying the Pats taped the Rams fluff practice? Hmm, who could this unnamed source be? Who could it be, who could it be? Can I take a wild guess and say maybe Matt Walsh? Yeah that same scum bag who is begging to get his five minutes of fame? It seems right up his alley to make a statement like this, but not have the balls to put his name on the quote. It’s Coward 101. Shame on John Tomase for even reporting this gossip. I think he should be fired for this. More importantly who the fuck cares if the Pats taped the Rams fluff practice? Only somebody who hates the Patriots (insert Tom Jackson, Steve Young, Merrill Hodge, the entire country etc) or somebody who has never played football in their entire life (John Tomase) would ever try to insinuate that taping a fluff practice would have any impact on anything. That’s like saying taping the opponents batting practice in baseball helps you win. It’s totally and utterly ridiculous. Not to mention that everybody knew both teams were in the building during this final walk through. I mean the entire Patriot team was getting their picture taken while the Rams were on the field. So I’m pretty sure the Rams weren’t giving away any trade secrets during an open practice. Plus the Rams did virtually the same thing for every game the entire season so who needs to film a fluff practice to figure out what they’re doing? Do people see how nuts this is? The only thing I can equate it to is why other countries hate the United States of America. It’s jealously plain and simple. They hate us because they want to be us. So just like how Al Qaeda makes up lies and spreads propaganda about the US, the rest of the league and country make up lies about the Patriots. Honestly it’s the lowest form of pond scum that there is.
The rest of the country and the National Media should be embracing the Patriots. They stand for everything that is right in sports. They play at a team. They sacrifice for each other. They are smarter than everybody else. They care about winning more than individual accomplishments. And they are on the verge of putting together the greatest season in the history of sports. Is should be a cause for celebration from sea to shining sea. Some would even say if the Pats win tomorrow it should instantly become a National Holiday. That’s what Arlen Specter should be working on. It could be a day when grandfathers can tell their grandkids about the day they saw the greatest team from the greatest franchise complete the greatest season in the history of the world. Yet somehow the rest of the country doesn’t seem to appreciate this fact. Instead they spend their time spewing venom about how much we suck and cheat and blah, blah, blah. My advice would to all the rest of the country would be don’t hate but emulate. Ask us Bostonians for tips on how we dominate the world and maybe we’ll one day your city can be a 10th of as good as we are. But if you continue to just to make excuses as to why we kick your ass in everything from baseball to basketball to football you’ll continue to live in squalor just like the terrorists.
PS – Maybe my favorite part of Spygate is how ex coaches who have won Superbowls like Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells have both said they filmed other teams and that there is NOTHING to this entire fiasco. Yet the media totally ignores them whenever they say this. So basically if the Pats Superbowls are tainted then every Superbowl since the advent of videotape is also tainted.
Tomase is a fat fuck. He makes Felger look like Ben Bradlee by comparison. Hopefully he chokes on a chicken wing, or a dick, tomorrow during the game.
by reporting this shit maybe he thinks he'll get a spot on Around the Horn or get to sub for Michael Wilbon because now he's not a homer...Fucking Tomase sucks! At least Bob Ryan shows emotion which means he's a fan of sports...Tomase just sits there like he's a fucking intellectual with his smug little fucking attitude.
the Inside Track with Fee, Raposa, and Tomase next week in the Herald!
Great points George and echoes. Thomase first made a name for himself by writing that article that said that Manny was a cancer in the clubhouse and that his team mates secretly hated him. The guy has been a hack since the day he picked up a pen.
um..... how can something "literally" become surreal?
To quote Nelson from the Simpsons a few weeks ago:
"Ha-ha, your medium is dying!"
I grew up on the Herald now I can barely tolerate it. I get it for the standings and spreads---makes it easier when calling local businessmen.
flat, that a conversation for another bone, er, day.
'that is'
Both Boston papers have always been rags. Tomase got his wish, his story citing his "unnamed" source is everywhere. Congrats buddy. FYI there's no Pulitzer for yellow journalism.
If there was Giggles, the Herald would need a separate wing in their building.
When I first read that article, I had the same responce I had after hearing the first reports on this mess. I shrugged my shoulders and said, "whatever, no one believes this stuff." I didn't even bother to see who wrote it. The problem is that the majority of people are sheep ARE dumb enough to believe everything they read. The Tomasse's of the world are never taken to task for writing flimsy accusatory stories because people are buying it. I'm almost ashamed to bowl for team Herald..oh yeah, see you boys Monday night.
ALso excellent use of the Simpsons rearad.
It's even more than jealousy though. The Pats are everything everyone wants in a champion, they never trash talk other teams, the players for the most part are never involved with any off the field issues. Since when is this a country that hates greatness?
In my post open-bar haze, I awoke to Steve Young almost crying on ESPN about this horrific story. Driving home I couldn't even get a station on radio or Sirius that even mentioned this story. I thought maybe I was dreaming about it. Methinks Steve Youngs name will be mentioned in the BB pre-game speech, and he will be getting the Tom Jackson treatment from now on.

Who Would You Rather Stab in the Heart More? Matt Walsh or Arlen Specter?

Vs.

There are certain times in my life when I honestly question the sanity of the human race. And the fact that Arlen Specter is trying to involve Congress in Spygate is one of those times. How can anybody with even a shred of intelligence rationalize this as a good use of Government funds? It's flat out mind boggling. Specter claimed that Goodell destroying the Spygate tapes is "analogous to the CIA destruction of tapes,'' Huh? Is he insane? I mean even if the Pats were stealing signs for longer than people think what the fuck does that have to do with Congress? And if it was analogous to the CIA destorying tapes like Specter said then why'd he wait 6 months before opening his fat ass mouth? Normally I don’t like to advocate killing elected officials, but Arlen Specter doesn’t deserve to live. He is literally a threat to National Security. I realize he is still upset that the Pats beat the Eagles in the Superbowl a couple years ago, but give it a rest already. Don’t worry dude, Philly will be back in a couple decades.
Now as far as this Matt Walsh guy goes, did anybody make it through that article on ESPN? He fucking makes Don King look like Straight Arrow Genaro. Matt Walsh of course is the former Pats employee who was fired in 2003 and is now trying to get revenge. So far Walsh has said he may or may not have information regarding Spygate. But he won’t say anything unless ESPN agrees to pay his legal fees if he gets sued for lying. HA! HA! HA! I wish I was making this up but I’m not. I honestly have never read an article in my life where somebody has come across as a bigger scum bag than Matt Walsh. I'm begging all Stoolies to come forward with stories exposing what an asshole this guy is. And I know he is a total asshole
Bottom line is this. The Pats are undefeated. They haven’t used cameras this season. Nobody can beat them. The rest of the world is jealous and this is their attempt to steal the spotlight. It’s no different than when Arod announced he was going to become a free agent during the World Series. Frankly it’s sad and pathetic. But in a way I kind of like it. Because it will make it that much sweeter when we’re hoisting the Lombardi Trophy for the 4th time this Sunday and the rest of the country is crying.
Anyway it's time to vote. Who would you rather stab in the heart? Matt Walsh or Arlen Specter? Man this is a tough one. Arlen Specter is clearly more dangerous since he is in a position of power, but at the same time he's just a senile old man. Matt Walsh just seems like the most despicable human being on the planet. Gun to head I think I'd choose to stab him in the heart first.
Vote 1 for Matt Walsh and 10 for Arlen Specter

steve young is a complete assclown. i watched him for 5 seconds today and couldnt stand it, i had to shut that shit off. and tomase is an awful reporter and he should be fired. i agree pres
