UB loves Larry Bird. Not just because he brought us 3 titles in the 80s or because he was UB's first hardcore sports idol, but because he has let himself go with Miller Lites and still ribs his former teammates whenever he gets the chance. When asked prior to last night's Celtics-Pacers game what he thought of the "new" big three, Larry replied:

"I’m very happy for Danny. He went through a rough period, like me and Kevin (McHale, as the GM in Minnesota) have been going through. If you want to pat someone on the back, pat McHale on the back.”

Then Larry responded to comments by Max on WBZ Sports Final that Kevin Garnett is the 2nd greatest Celtic already, behind Bill Russell:

“That’s fine. Max quit on us, and he’ll probably quit on them before the season’s up.”
