BI – How tough is Jenny Bindon, the New Zealand goalkeeper? She stayed in the game. The U.S. women’s soccer team took care of New Zealand 2-0 earlier today to earn a place in the semifinals, where they will play the winner of Monday’s Britain-Canada match. Abby Wambach and Sydney Leroux scored for the USWNT, while Hope Solo recorded her third consecutive shutout, as the women’s team seems to be firing on all cylinders. A scary moment occurred during the 73rd minute when the U.S.’s Alex Morgan and Kiwi goalie Bindon collided while going for the ball, with Morgan’s knee hitting Bindon squarely in the face. Bindon stayed down for a few minutes, but as was previously mentioned, was able to stay in the match. No penalty was called on the play.
FACE. AND the win.
