Nerve.com – One of the knocks against Judd Apatow has always been that — with the exception of his wife, Leslie Mann — his cinematic clubhouse has largely been a rowdy boys’ club. That may explain Apatow’s involvement as one of the producers of Bridesmaids, the upcoming Kristin Wiig comedy (directed by Freaks & Geeks alum Paul Feig) that’s being promoted as the female answer to raunchy bromances like The Hangover. But where does Bridesmaids fall in the overall Apaverse? To find out, we’ve created a worst-to-best ranking of every film from Apatow Productions.
15. Drillbit Taylor (2008)
14. Step Brothers (2008)
13. Year One (2009)
12. Get Him to the Greek (2010)
11. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
10. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)
9. Pineapple Express (2008)
8. The Cable Guy (1996)
7. Funny People (2009)
6. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
5. Superbad (2007)
4. Bridesmaids (2011)
3. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)
2. Knocked Up (2007)
1. The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005)
Now I didn’t see Bridesmaids yet but I heard it really funny so I’m not gonna bitch about it, but I’ve seen all the rest besides Drillbit Taylor so I don’t think I’m missing anything. First of all, Walk Hard is like the most underrated comedy of recent memory. Is easily in the top 5 here for me. Step Brothers is way too low, too. And would everyone get off of Knocked Up‘s dick? It was funny, yeah, but it wasn’t better than Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Anchorman, Cable Guy, or Walk Hard. It’s not. I get that it’s heartfelt and more of a RomCom but that alone doesn’t make it better than those other movies.
My list:
15. Drillbit Taylor (2008)
14. Year One (2009)
13. Get Him to the Greek (2010)

11. Funny People (2009)
10. Step Brothers (2008)
9. Knocked Up (2007)
8. The Cable Guy (1996)
7. Pineapple Express (2008)
6. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
5. Bridesmaids (2011)
4. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)
