So I Guess We Should Talk About This…

Ya’ll know me — I’m a hockey guy. maurice Hockey is what they used to call me back in high school. Didn’t even have a last name. But for the sake of some fans out there who aren’t die-hard puckheads like myself, let’s dumb things down to one point: was it worth it?

I don’t care if you actively rooted for Carter, Richards, and Gagne this series or wished death upon all their families and cocaine, I wanna know if in the end if it was worth it. I’ve heard fans say recently that it was the players we traded them for — Lil Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, Jakub Voracek — that got us past Pittsburgh. Which is a funny thing to say since, you know, in the end that didn’t mean shit. We lost. I don’t care how sad Crosby looked after Claude Giroux stole his cocktail fruit, in the end we weren’t the team holding the cup. The Kings were.

Suppose I just let my opinion seep through the story, but I wanted to get your take. Regardless if you actively rooted for the Sea Isle Smash Bros in LA or somehow found a cold enough part of your heart to root for New Jersey, do you think the trade was worth it?

dude people need to quit fucking whining....the flyers put themselves in a huge whole when they gave both carts and richie monster contracts....also if columbus didnt suck so much then carts wouldnt have even been in LA....its not like the flyers gave away both of them to the kings

the only way the flyers win the cup with carter and richards are if they brought Jonathan Quick back to Philadelphia with them. It hurts to see them win before us, but any team with Quick wins the cup

Agree with nav, until Universe isn't banking shots off opponents skates into the corner pocket, those two wouldn't have made a difference. Good for Gagne, good for Carter, good for Richie, good for Justin Williams too, freakin Hextall is somewhere in their organization.

Lets say Richard, Carter, and Gange were back on Philly. And Simmonds, Shenn, and Voracek were with the Kings... The Cup could have easily ended up the same way. They still had Brown, Kopitar, Quick, and Doughty. We still had no defense and sometimes no net minder. Happy for Richards and Gange. Fuck Jeff Carter. 2 goals in the series ender doesn't change that he sucks dick.

good times out here in LA. The way Quick played all postseason, a myriad of teams could have won if they had him between the pipes....kid was a fucking circus performer back there. And Mo, how does the Dodgers' ass taste after last weeks sweep too!

Didn't Richards and Carter get shipped out of town for banging pre-frosh coeds who turned out to be underage? I don't think the org had much of a choice about it when the chief of police came into the GMs office and told them if they didn't leave town, they'd be arraigned for statutory. In those terms, I feel like it's not that bad...you could have won...probably should have won...and it wasn't really in their control.

Only idiots wouldn't admit the trade was awful. Lavi and the captain created the rift btw richie and the flyers. The media brutalized him yet celebrated giroux for partying.If you watched the kings all playoffs, you'd know Quick's numbers were padded by the dominant defense.Flyers lost a leader when they traded Richards but keep drinking the Philly media kool-aid...

i know philly fans are 'fair weathered' and all but in what world was that a good move by the flyers? you basically axe richards, carter, and gagne to free up space to sign bryz for 8 years and a bajillion dollars and a bunch of trash misfits who the organization claims to be talented youth. lmao that alone allows devils and rangers fans alike to sleep better . unless giroux can net 100 fucking goals for the rest of his career its gonna be another 30 plus years until philly sees a cup.

the problem was not getting a goalie in the trade... obviously bryzgalov isnt the answer, the flyers should have told the kings quick had to be part of the package for richards.... or they should have tried to get schneider from vancouver or someone like backstrom from minny
