I’m a Giants fan who moved to Philly a few years ago. There is a road named Manning Street that is basically an alley between buildings, too narrow for a car drive through. At the beginning of the road is a gay bar.
I always sort of felt this was done as a joke, like it was just an alley and didn’t have a street sign until Eli came along… then some Eagles fan who names streets thought it would be funny. Do you know anything about this conspiracy?
Prrrretty sure street names in Philadelphia aren’t simply picked at random by drunk dudes in a Dawkins jerseys. If our fans were truly responsible for the naming of streets, there’d be a poverty-stricken youth getting gunned down on Sidney Crosby Loves Cum Ave every other night.
But who knows — I’m not on any Boards and the majority of my news revolves around things Ron Jaworski says. Can’t claim with absolute certainty that somebody somewhere wasn’t trying to stick it to Eli. Manning street most definitely was around prior to Eli getting drafted, but perhaps it was going to be changed to Equality St or something when the gay bar opened up and an Eagles fan forced them to keep the name.
I’ll look into this more closely. In the meantime I’ll search around Brooklyn for a McNabb street that’s covered in vomit yet smells like soup.
