So it turns out the Sixers are not as good as the Heat. They can hang with them for a while but not for a full 48. That’s okay. It’s a bad matchup since both teams play similar styles of athletic, run-first, defensive-minded basketball. We just gotta hope the Sixers get seeded right so the Bulls can take out the Heat at some point.
But how about that next-day beat down of the Hawks? After what could have led to a huge slide for a young team, the Sixers turned a 20-point home loss into a fucking smackdown of the third team in the East on their home floor. Our boys are clearly the third best team in the conference, it’s just about racking up wins to get that second seed and hopefully avoiding Miami in the playoffs at all costs.
Anyway, this isn’t about the weekend, this is about the fucking Lake Show and K-Bean Bryant coming home to Philly. Yes, I said “home to Philly” — I never was sure why people in this town were so quick to shun Kobe. Lower Merion may not be Bartram or Gratz, and sure Kobe spent a lot of his life in Italy, and yes he played his entire career on the other side of the country for our sometime-rival LA Lakers — but that doesn’t mean we should disown the greatest basketball player of this generation. If Kobe is connected to any U.S. city, it’s Philly. He was born in Philadelphia, reps Philadelphia, and is a vocal and public supporter of the Eagles…what more do you want?
Let’s welcome Jellybean Jr. back with a double-digit Sixers win. Night Shift set to put in some work tonight. Prediction: Sixers 97, Lakers 85.
ONLY LOSS LA TOOK IN THE ENTIRE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR. NEVER FORGET.
