Flacco Or Vick: Which QB Would You Rather Have?

The Eagles and Ravens play this Sunday at 1PM and Philly.com brought up the interesting question this morning of whether you’d rather have your team’s QB be Michael Vick or Joe Flacco. Now obviously with last week’s debacle fresh in our minds we’re all inclined to jump right on the Joe Skinny purple bandwagon and off the Michael Vick turnover machine, but try to remember that most of his games are actually pretty good. Vick ended last season with QB ratings of 107.0, 107.9, and 104.1 while averaging 300+ yards per game.

Let’s consider all of the variables. Yes, Flacco is younger, taller, better in the pocket, and even though both guys are probably in the Top 5 he actually does have a stronger arm than Mike. But Flacco could have a Super Saiyan transformation with Jesus himself and he still wouldn’t be able to do some of the things athletically Michael Vick can manage.

Plus, consider the scheme. This is YOUR team, not Andy Reid’s. Maybe in your offense you utilize Vick’s strengths more by designing plays for him to roll out of the pocket 75% of the time or have him share time on the field with Foles. Andy has gotten pretty vanilla with what he uses Superman for lately. If you were in charge, perhaps you could ensure Vick’s skills are being maximized and prevent him from standing short in the pocket and getting murdered every play.

Eh fuck it, I’m still taking Flacco.

Flacco - super easy. Been 5 years in the same system, younger, taller, smarter, only has upside. Never been a problem, rarely gets hurt. Does what he's told. Vick - 32 years old, about to lose a step or 2. Shorter. Dumber. Has a record of getting in trouble. While he seems more coachable now has a history of shooting from the hip. I would take a long shot that Flacco MAY win a superbowl, and I would also bet every cent to my name in Vegas that Vick will NEVER win a superbowl.

Pretty sure he meant top 5 arm strength, not overall ability.Flacco for 16 games > Vick for however many games every day of the week.

The health issue is always paramount but I want to see a bit more from Flacco before I make a final call. True, he looked unreal against Cincy but no one has seen Baltimore in the spread offense, there wasn't any tape for Cincy to prepare so I wasn't shocked they got walloped.That said, Ravens over Eagles 31-17.

Also - Vick's "skills" will wind up w/ him getting his fucking head taken off. Where are you left as a team when your starting QB is a paraplegic? Nowhere. LOL @ either of these stiffs being in the "top 5" QB's haha - Mo you're such an idiot when it comes to sports but it is funny reading. What about brady, rodgers, brees, eli, roethlisberger, ryan, schaub, peyton, newton, to name just a FEW I'd take of these guys....although if anything Flacco is probably in that 2nd tier grouping and Vick in that bottom end of it. The only reason why Flacco wouldn't be able to do the things Mike Vick does is because his ass is staying in the pocket, and his coach doesn't base his success off of broken plays. I understand week 2 is Eagles vs Ravens, but a better argument would be Ryan vs. Flacco.

Michael Vick def. more of a threat. Love the SS reference. You pull out the Ravens defense and Flacco is crap. His role is to not lose the game, not to win it. Ray Lewis is tasked with winning the game.

Well, the one to pick in the "which one would you rather have" sweepstakes may be Flacco because what you are comparing him to is Vick's back-up as "Glass Joe" won't make it through the season. So it is really - Vicks back-up or Flacco, who would you rather have?

BTW - a) its pretty tough to judge "arm strength" and b) if that's a good measure then fucking throw Tebow in there too -he can throw the long ball w/ the best of then. Hell, I guess Bledsoe should come back into the NFL huh? He could throw the football a 1/4 mile

I am a big Ravens fan but I would still go with Vick here. Overall he's just a better QB. Flacco ended last season in the playoffs with some very good games and has started this season almost perfect but he still doesn't have me convinced. If you were to put Vick on the Ravens with that defense, that running back , that O-Line and that coach I feel like he would excel past Flacco.
