arbroath – Four men were arrested Sunday in Newport Beach on suspicion of stealing a bag containing a sandwich — valued at $10 — from a parked car. Oscar Iglesias, 25, of South Gate, Daniel Godinez, 23, and Edwin Yhuit, 27, both of Cudahy, and Daniel Garcia, 28, of Chula Vista, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary and conspiracy, Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said. Police received a call at about 5:55pm that a man, later identified by police as Iglesias, was seen removing a bag from a parked vehicle, according to Manzella. The car was locked but a window had been lowered, she said. After grabbing the bag, Iglesias immediately got into a waiting vehicle, Manzella said, adding that Godinez, Yhuit and Garcia were in the car. The caller described the vehicle and gave a licence plate number. Police stopped the vehicle, where the bag was recovered and the four men were arrested.
This is why maurice never became a newspaper writer. Because newspaper writers don’t know how to ask the important questions. And also I start sentences with “because”, “and”, and “but”. But it’s mostly because I have the heart of a blogger and bloggers understand how to craft a story. Four Mexican-y dudes, one of which looks like rapper Pitbull morphed faces with an actual pit bull, organize an elaborate multi-person heist for a single sandwich…and you don’t find out what kind of sandwich it is? That’s the whole story! The sandwich! Ten bucks goes a long way when it comes to sandwiches…especially in Florida, I bet. This hoagie was good enough for some Oceans 11 shit and it’s lazy journalism and a disservice to the reading public to not get that info.
This is why you’re out of business, newspapers. This…and the internet.
