Charles Barkley On Tiger Woods: ‘I Wish I Could Put Some Of My Blackness In Him’

ESPN – Tiger Woods has a new nickname for Rory McIlroy: The Intimidator. Both golfers have taken a humorous tack in the wake of Greg Norman’s comments that Woods is intimidated by McIlroy. “No one is the size of (linebacker) Ray Lewis who is going to hit me coming over the middle, so this is a different kind of sport,” Woods said Wednesday on the eve of the 30-player Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club. “We go out there and play our own game and see where it falls at the end of the day.” Norman, who was ranked No. 1 in the world for a longer period (331 weeks) than any player other than Woods (623 weeks), told FoxSports.com Tuesday that he believes McIlroy’s recent run of three victories — including a major — in his past four starts proves he’s supplanting Woods as the best player in the game. “What I’m seeing is that Tiger’s really intimidated by Rory,” Norman told the website. “When have you ever seen him intimidated by another player? Never. But I think he knows his time’s up and that’s normal; these things tend to go in 15-year cycles.” McIlroy heads into Tour Championship atop the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup standings.”It’s got to be the hair,” Woods quipped, referring to McIlroy’s curly locks. The two players will be paired in the final group Thursday at East Lake when the tournament begins. Woods, 36, said he’s not been intimidated by any golfer.”It’s not like you go over the middle and some guy is 255 pounds and going to take your block off. This is about executing and going about your own business and see where it ends up at the end of the day. It’s just the nature of our sport, which is different than some sports. … Here, no one is affecting any shots.”

Barkley: “I would like for him to just blast Greg Norman … That situation gave everybody a chance to dump on you, and (Tiger) still tried to take the high road. I’m not a high road guy. I want him to come out and really blast Greg Norman. I wish he would go ballistic on Greg … I wish I could put some of my blackness in him … like toughness … (I’ve been) arrested eight times for fighting … just because I’m Charles Barkley, you can’t disrespect me … you just can’t say anything to me anytime you want to …”

This is why Charles Barkley is one of the greatest living Americans: because he speaks from the gut. Not necessarily from the brain — he’s had his share of mind farts over the years. But when Chuck gets the chance to speak on something he knows well, he has a type of meathead eloquence that is unmatched in sports broadcasting. Yeah the comment deserves a “pause” since it completely sounds like Charles Barkley wants to plunge his 3 wood deep into Eldrick’s rough. But pause or no pause Charles Barkley is right. The man’s been arrested eight times for fighting, and apparently once told a judge before his sentencing for throwing a man through a bar window that his only regret was that they were on the first floor. And through all of this he is still far more universally liked than “high road” Tiger Woods.

People in America don’t care about motherfuckers taking the high road, folks here care about people who speak with honesty and passion. Tiger needs to nut up and tell everybody who has a problem to fuck off or get beat the fuck up. None of these other golfers or analysts are in his type of shape, Tiger probably could knock the rest of these Tour assholes into next week’s WorldStar clips.
