“After reviewing the tape over 10 times, and listening to what all my fans and haters had to say about the fight. I have made a decision. I shall return this belt to its true, rightful owner. LIKE AND SHARE if you support my decision. I shall release this information to the press and media shortly..”
Oh, what a wonderful display of sportsmanship and maturity. What a tremendous act of selflessness and objective thinking. More people in sports should be just like you Timothy Bradley.
Absolute bullshit.
First of all, this is obviously fake. But the fact that there were so many people on Facebook and Twitter believing this was true is both sad and astounding. No competitor should EVER consider returning what they’ve rightly won. Sure, the decision was fixed. Sure, it was obvious to everyone that Pac Man really won that fight. Doesn’t matter. Judges say Bradley won, then Bradley won. Let us, the media and loudmouth fans, decide whether it was legit or not.
Do you think Tyson or Mayweather or any professional boxer would give back a title because the judges got it wrong? Fuck and no. Those guys — like all true competitors — are about WINNING. Not about looking like a nice guy to a bunch of assholes on the internet. If this were true, Tim Bradley would’ve just lost all my respect.
The true story of this goes deeper than probably any of us currently realize, with the most obvious answer involving Manny’s manager/promoter Bob Arum’s decision to rig this shit so people will pay $75 to watch Bradley/Pacquiao II. Which I’m sure he did. Most people see Arum as a crook (he IS a boxing promoter) and it makes sense. But I have a better idea, Bob: take Manny off the steroids and have him fight Floyd Mayweather instead. I mean, if you’re gonna have your guy lose, at least have him lose legit, right?
