There Is Now A "Magic" Number You Can Text That Will Get You Anything (Read: Anything Legal) That You Want

Business InsiderWhat if you could text a number and get anything you want? That’s the ambitious goal of a new startup called Magic, a text-messaging-based concierge service that promises to pull strings, place orders, and schedule deliveries all so you don’t have to. Magic doesn’t have a dedicated app. It instead exists as a phone number nestled inside your contact list, acting as your go-to “guy” for anything (legal) you may need. It’s only available in the US for now, and you can sign up by texting 408-217-1721…Exactly how Magic fulfills your request is left to the discretion of your Magic operator. Plane tickets, for example, are purchased online and emailed to you, but Magic can also take advantage of delivery services like Instacart to get things like groceries delivered to your door.

In theory, this is incredible. And I’m pretty sure that at some point or another, we’ve all had this exact idea before. It’s just that the majority of us were too stupid to create “Magic” and someone has finally beat us to it. But think about it. All I have to do is text a silly number and I have myself a slave? Beautiful. The only problem is that it’s not actually slavery and you’re eventually gonna have to pay someone an insane premium for picking up those flowers you were too lazy to grab yourself. It honestly blows my mind how something like this can work, especially when there’s not an app for it. Even the idea of Uber still blows my mind a little bit but I think I’m finally starting to understand how it all works out. Without an app, though, this just seems super sketchy. But it would appear that there is a pretty big market for stupid lazy people who have no problem with paying a ridiculous price + tip for something that they could have just gone out and got themselves, because Magic is taking off. I’m in the middle of trying it out myself, but so far I haven’t gotten a response.

I’ll make sure to get an update here if any progress is ever made. And yes, I keep my phone on the charger even if it’s at 100%. I have issues.
