SOCCER! Philadelphia Union Sign Algerian GK Rais M'Bolhi (This is Good)

The Union just got a little stronger between the pipes by signing 28-year-old Rais M’Bolhi. They’ve been targeting him for a few weeks now and were finally able to seal the deal today. If any of you remember, M’Bolhi put on a show for Algeria in the World Cup this year. He lead his team out of the group stage and took Germany (those guys that won the whole thing) to extra time. He’s also the goalie who gave up that stoppage time goal to Landon Donovan in 2010 so I’ve got no issues with him there. There’s plenty we can say about how M’Bolhi the goalie can help this Union team make a strong push for the playoffs, but they say a video is worth a thousand words so here is exactly why this guy is a perfect fit for Philly.

We’re from Philadelphia and we fight. That’s been M’Bolhi’s motto since before he could probably even point out Philadelphia on a map. If he brings this type of intensity with him to PPL Park, we’re gonna have a lot of fun. We already fell in love with a bearded bald goalkeeper this summer, and if you have any futbol fever left in you, it’s time to fall in love with another. DOOP.
