Jeffrey Lurie Speaks To His Peasants, Says Things, Gives False Hope The Eagles Could Permanently Switch Back To The Kelly Green Uniforms

lurie

Lord Jeffrey Lurie came down from his Ivory Tower on the High Castle to speak to the little people yesterday. Among his ramblings included how the Eagles need to build around Wentz (really?), verbally blew Joe Douglas calling his hire a “pivotal moment” (why isn’t Douglas just running the show again?), and blah blah blah. Typical owner jibberish. But then they started talking about the uniforms and…

BGN – Unfortunately, the Eagles withdrew their alternate helmet proposal after consulting with the NFL competition committee this year. But the fact that Lurie said the team will keep trying to bring it back is an encouraging sign (for those who like Kelly Green, at least). Another new tidbit here is that Lurie did NOT rule out the possibility of bringing back Kelly Green as the team’s primary jersey one day. He did say he wants to see Kelly Green as the alternate for a trial run before a full switch could potentially happen. He also said he still likes Midnight Green so there’s no guarantee it’ll ever happen.

We all know they’ve been pushing to get the old school uni’s back as alternatives, but Kelly Green as the (possible) primary jerseys? Well that’s a horse of a different color. My nostalgia wood just pierced the Stratosphere. I suppose Lurie’s ex-wife may be loosing up her death grip on his nuts when it comes to dressing his players. For the most part, people don’t dislike the midnight green colors. There still easy on the eyes and the black substitute uni’s decent. But moving on from Kelly Green was a change that didn’t have to be made in the first place. The Eagles are one of the oldest franchises in the NFL and they were ALWAYS green with the exception of when they were puke yellow. And unless Kevin Curtis is going to show up and rekindle his one above average game performance in Philly, there’s no reason to switch it up again. Kelly green for life.

And now, for your viewing and America’s pleasure, here is a mini-documentary about the Gang Green defense:
