NJ.com – In the postgame locker room following Saturday’s preseason victory over the Jets, Prince Amukamara was informed a video of him being thrown into a cold tub by Jason Pierre-Paul had been posted on the internet. “Nnnnnoooooo!” Yes. The video, apparently shot and posted by punter Steve Weatherford, was taken during training camp. It shows Pierre-Paul carrying Amukamara over his shoulder and toward the tub, with a group of Giants players watching, egging on Pierre-Paul and taunting Amukamara. Amukamara appeared to express both sides of the argument when asked for his reaction. “Yeah, um, well, I mean, I just don’t get it. I don’t understand the rules. I mean, I’m not a rookie anymore, so I don’t know why I’m getting thrown in the tub. I know it’s all love. Yeah, no one ever likes it, especially when it’s you vs. eight and no one’s helping you. But it doesn’t mess up our team morale or anything.” Amukamara said he used to fire back but eventually decided simply accepting it was the better tact. “Um, I just don’t think that’s the right way to go,” Amukamara said. “Now, if it’s on the field and something like that happens, someone does a cheap play, for sure I’m going to protect myself. But if it’s out here (in the locker room) and it’s just for fun, then no.” During the video, a player can be heard yelling to Amukamara, “Stand up for yourself!” It’s been a running theme for the players, who have been trying to get the engaging, easy-going Amukamara to develop an edge. Amukamara estimated he landed in the tub eight times last year. “Sometimes I think they take it overboard just because they’re vets they get to be mean about it and tell you what to do.”
If you wanna say JPP is a cock sucker, I’ll agree with you. Dude is getting his Ric Flair strut on because he dumped what might as well be a midget compared to him in an ice tub. Granted, it was still tougher than blowing through Wayne Hunter on Saturday, but what exactly is a 6′ 210 lb. CB gonna do against a 6’5″ 280 lb. DE? Might as well punch his own blind dad in the face & brag about that too. Then I saw this article on what Prince had to say and now I’m wondering if he has any friends. What a squid. Listen, when this is at least the 9th time you’ve been rookie hazed in the tub and you’re not even a rookie anymore, it might be time to look in the mirror. When the fucking punter is the one recording it for every single one of your teammates who are standing by idly essentially calling you a little bitch, nobody likes you. I don’t know why or what you did, but that much is obvious. No one likes Prince Amukamara.
Look at his face in the video. Read his quotes. Guy’s like a battered wife just accepting the fact that, at any given time, someone’s gonna hang him on his locker door by his Hanes. A defeated, deflated man who has no idea why he’s always the target. He thinks it’s wrong, thinks it’s mean, thinks it’s…all love? I don’t think so, buddy. If anybody on the Giants wanted you as part of the “brotherhood”, they wouldn’t all point and laugh while you get tossed neck-first like a rag doll knowing you cried yourself to sleep the night before. They’d lay off eventually. Somebody would step in. Instead, they just keep coming. That’s not camaraderie, that’s dislike. Now I don’t think any of this affects the team as a whole. I know Weatherford had to issue some BS apology on Twitter for posting the vid, and I’m looking forward to a JPP “anti-bullying” commercial. It does ostracize Prince even more though, and it’s gonna be tough for him to succeed from the outside looking in. Could be another big hit to the secondary. First T2′s knee, then Hosley with turf toe and now Amukamara with severely hurt feelings.
