SB Nation - New York is the biggest city in the country so if you were expecting a massive crowd at the parade, you’d be right. Estimates for the Giants 2008 Super Bowl parade were around a million people and that came in rainy conditions. With the weather set for 52 degrees and sunny on Tuesday, we could see more than one million people in the streets of New York for the parade.
Another parade down the Canyon of Heroes for a team that doesn’t belong to me. I can relish this Super Bowl from an anti-Patriots point of view, but that ain’t what a Super Bowl parade is about. Unless we can have another set of floats one block over thats dedicated to making fun of Brady and Belichick and New England, I can’t get excited about New York going bananas for Eli and company. It just ain’t meant for me.
And I’ve pretty much accepted the fact that I’ll never get one. I’ll definitely never get a Mets parade, which is the only thing I wanna see in my lifetime. The Jets are just as much of a long shot. So while you New England mutts think that texting me about my lack of success as a fan cuts deep and gets back at me for making fun of last nite’s debiliating loss, it doesn’t. I’ve accepted my fate. I’ve accepted the fact that God has a plan for all of us – and my plan is to play the role of sports blogger with a tortured soul. It is what it is.
But it ain’t gonna stop me. Let me ask you this – do virgins just stop trying to get laid simply because they have never had sex and the outlook doesn’t look promising? Fuck no. They will continue to strive for sex every single day because its one of the greatest things on the planet. Well thats me. Still rooting for that parade that I know is never gonna come because its the greatest feeling a sports fan can feel.
PS – I’ll probably still be down there trying to get footage and shit.
