(Newser) – If you’re female and overweight, we have bad news: Even if you lose weight, your friends will likely always think of you as fat. A new study finds that women have a hard time shedding the stigma of obesity, notes EurekAlert.org. Young men and women read about a woman who had either lost 70 pounds or remained at a stable weight, and who was currently either obese or thin, and were then asked questions about the woman and their feelings about her. The study found that participants were more biased against obese people after reading about women who had lost weight than they were after reading about women who remained stable—even if the stable women were obese. “We were surprised to find that currently thin women were viewed differently depending on their weight history,” says the lead researcher. “Those who had been obese in the past were perceived as less attractive than those who had always been thin, despite having identical height and weight.” Hat tip to Gizmodo for the find.
Has there ever been truer words spoken? I mean out of all the “studies” we right about on Barstool, this one may be the most valuable. Once you’re fat, you’re always fat. There’s no going back. Rex Ryan lost like 90 pounds. Nobody will ever think of him as anything but a fat foot fucker. Jonah Hill lost 1 billion pounds and everyone still calls him “the fat one from Superbad.” Jessica Simpson, Kirstie Alley, Kelly Clarkson – all those bitches are fat. They could all hop on a scale and weigh 110 pounds and take off their clothes and show me their bodies and I’d still call them fat.
Its kinda like how I still call Citi Field Shea Stadium when I’m talking about the Mets. Its why I’ll never call the Triboro Bridge the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge. I still call P. Diddy Puffy. Because the first way your brain files shit away is the way it stays for life. If my first impression of you is “Fat chick with blond hair” it doesn’t matter if you lose 200 pounds and die your hair black – you’re always gonna be the Fat Chick With Blond Hair. Its why overweight people should just give up and be fat for life. Nobody’s opinion of you is changing anytime soon. Might as well live it up.
